I have described the areas of development in a five stage process:-
Stage One – 0-1 Years – this is a key 12 months where a child builds trust with the people who respond to their needs. Emotional warmth is key to building up this sense of trust. If this trust is not built up then a child can be fearful of adults and others and this rejection is already starting to become established.

Childre will now ask why, and query actions and decisions. Children will want to be more industrious and enjoy things such as baking and sewing. A childâ€TMs sense of interest will also allow them to compare themselves to their peers.
Physically, fundamental movements are still paramount as a child is going through change and physically developing.
Stage Five – 12-19 Years – A child is now developing to an adolescent. Social acceptance is now seen as important at this stage of development. A child is very aware of the importance of what others think of them. Biological changes are also occurring which results in new feelings and sensations for the child to deal with.
Physical development for children during this stage is individual for each child. During this stage some children will reach their full physical maturity whilst others will only be starting their journey.
