Bright Tunnel Vision No matter what situation you’re in to be successful you need to have a thrive to succeed. In the novel The Glass Castle, by Jeannette walls, Jeannette is a motivated student in school who has a motive to succeed despite the difficult family situations she goes through. In the ted talk “Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance.” by Angela Lee, Angela talks about how she discovered that having grit which is having stamina is the key to succeeding. For example a person who has grit is someone who sticks with his goals and plans day in and day out not for just weeks or months. She is always participating in class and answering questions. Her school life is good but her life at home is the complete opposite. Her family has had issues and challenges all throughout her life. She's gone through things at such a young age but she still doesn't let that interfere with her thrive to have high achievements in school. In source B you see a girl reaching her hand out and grabbing her hand stiffly trying not to get drowned away. This image reflects Jeannette's life. Jeannette is the girl trying to reach her goals and achieve more in school and her life issues and problems involving her parents are dragging her down. But as you see in the image the girl's eyes are not showing defeat and that's Jeanette in her life decisions. She lets nothing stop her education no matter what it is she's facing in her difficult life. In source C Angela has a ted talk about the research she did with her team. They discovered that someone with grit is someone who's going to be more successful at life. They described someone with grit is someone who is “having stamina”. So which means someone who is sticking with their goals and plans day in and out not only making a goal then only sticking to it for a week or a few months. Jeannette is someone with grit.
