Beowulf first challenge is fighting Grendel. Beowulf stayed the night at Herot and wait for the demonic creature to come for his midnight feast. He fought the beast and was able to ripped his arm off and send him back to his cave in the lake to die. Captain America challenge was his first fight against the Winter Soldier. There was multiple fights between them, but the first match was a fair match and Captain America was not able to defeat him but he was able to hold him off. After their match the winter soldier left but not without causing damage in the city. Beowulf and Captain America take similar journeys. They both undergo changes and have to go through similar lifestyles the only thing different about it is the people or monsters they fight and meet. They all go through the same process which is Separation, initiation, transformation and they both return with something, either its treasure or a new moral standard.
