Granted, anyone can call themselves a team, but there are certain characteristics that actually determine whether you are a team or just a group of people. The Highland Rugby team does a great job at demonstrating the characteristics that are essential to being a team.
One important factor that makes Highland a team is, the members of that team are proud of their identity and what they represent. They trust and value one another, and they also cooperate with each other. Having the same clear and inspiring goals makes it easier to function as a team because everyone knows why the group exists and everyone believes that the group is important. Another characteristic that the Highland Rugby team demonstrates is that they are all competent team members. All of the members of the Highland team are highly competent because they are strictly focused on rugby, school, and family. Members of the Highland team are not permitted to drink alcohol or do drugs so that they can focus, stay alert, and be the best people they can possible be. In doing this Highland is a better team because they are able to develop team skills, cooperate with each other better, and accomplish their task; winning their games. I have never seen a team that has worked as well as the Highland Rugby team and they all strive to make each other better, and that is what truly makes a team a team. Due to the fact that the Highland Rugby team strives to be a great team they have an amazing record of 361 win and only 9 losses.
