The Importance Of Communication Within A Group
A group of my friends in which we wanted to decide where to go past summer for a holiday trip. In that group we first created a messaging group where we can message each other about that topic. Frist few days we actually talked about where possible everyone can go and how much financial budget would be at places. After couple of days we met up to talk about it but after meeting up with them face to face everyone would talk off topic. Some people were not good with messaging back so it was a good idea that way but it ended up being a total waste of time and not talking about the original topic that we wanted to talk about. Communication is the key to our group which was not led effectively. Symbols did play a role in our messaging communication like our common mother tongue we say things that only some of us would understand in the group others would have no clue and ignore it. Communication should be done transactional process where everyone in the group mutually talk about the plans to make which never happened.
So we were lacking the transactional process. When meeting up with a group listening skills for everyone was not effective because it was group within a group so it would be hard to talk about what we were there for. There were group members who were action-oriented listener basically were on topic and always had an input to stay on topic all the time. There were members time oriented listener which he always had certain amount of time for the group meetings. We were lacking content oriented listener which would have helped us with analyzing information that time. Nonverbal behavior played a big role in our group to get off topic.
Physical appearance of group members was available but for some they were there for certain time and in that time work was not done effectively. Environment where we met was open garden so nothing to worry about like talking too loud or short amount of space for movement. Eye contact was not done to the person who was

Companies often organize their departments into teams that support each other to complete tasks or projects. When working in groups, communication is vital to the success of the team. Teams must work well individually as well as a members of a team. Communication on an individual level differs from communication within a group. Individually, you must actively listen and insure accurate understanding, offer to help solve problems, and focus on not being distracted by your own emotions. You cannot allow your emotions to distract you or cause you to miss the key points or misinterpret information. As an individual you must attend all group meetings, provide feedback and input to the discussions, and be respectful to others input and views.…

I had started a thread for group discussion on Wednesday of this week. I did note to the team that I would not be on much due to a family memorial but I encouraged the team to start the discussion. A couple of days later Kimberly, wrote a small post and a charter. Tonight one other member wrote on the discussion. Other than this there was not communication at all within the group. There was discussion, per se, so there was no way for others to share their point of view. Now Kimberly did finally post her answers to the questions that were asked, but when I responded to her post there was no more discussion with me.…

Our group communication scenario was based in a youth centre. I was a new youth worker and had to encourage members of the group to join in a game and make them enthusiastic about playing. In most groups there are people who speak a lot and others who speak rarely, because they feel uncomfortable speaking in front of a group of people or they are just not interested. Groups work best if there is a team leader who can encourage everyone to have a say in turn, rather than trying to speak all at once. Group communication can be used a lot inside a care home such as in; group activities doing arts and crafts where they may sit with each other and it is a time where they can talk with each other about themselves, what they did in their day and also about family members. Another example of group communication in a care home may be during staff meetings or MDT meetings. If group communication is used successfully the activity itself will be successful and the group will be glad to do other group activities again and may have made many friends. If the group communication is not used successfully this could lead to the residents falling out and some residents may not feel like taking part in anymore group activities. An example of this is when using Bruce Tuckman’s theory of forming, storming, norming and performing; if you are in a MDT meeting talking about one of the residents who has a certain problem that needs to be addressed. The group may be at a storming stage where a few people have disagreed with each other and they have completely forgotten about the main…

There was conflict when group members did not show up at group members ans we felt that not everybody was contributing to their best abilities. One group member did not even bother to have a text book and I as a leader made sure she got a copy of the case. It was in the group’s best interest that she be given a copy. Then we met for the first time not everybody had read the case and it was apparent and frustrating. Then we were rushed for time and we met the professor and only two out of five could meet the professor. Then we cracked the case and not all members were present at every meeting. It was hard to work as a team. Then I decided to host two meetings at home and the last one brought us closer together since we shared some snacks and personal…

There were a few barriers in this communication because we were outside and it was raining, everyone was cold and also we all had umbrellas covering our faces.…

When communicating in a group there are certain rules to be followed, for example; is there a leader of the group? Is everyone getting involved? Can everyone hear and understand each other clearly? An example of group communication in a health and social environment could be a counselling group in a rehab centre. There may be friction between some of the patients. Some patients may not be able to cope and some may not know what to say. In a case like this there would be a member of staff leading the group discussion that hopefully would help to relax the service users and help them to have confidence in their surroundings.…

Group communication relies on prior understanding of the group objectives and the group's culture. Unlike individual communication, individuals in a group do not provide feedback directly to one another. Rather, they provide feedback to be addressed by the entire group. With group communication, every participant’s input is necessary to help the group comprehend the objectives so that the whole group can benefit and arrive at mutual understanding. Therefore, in individual communication, the exchange of ideas and opinion is specific to the two individuals involved. Whereas, group communication involves many people and the communication is not specific to just one person. Group communication includes the input of many people which makes the process more difficult. Everyone in the group contributes ideas that need consideration. Members of a group want to feel that their input is having impact on the group dynamics.…
