Education is essential to living a healthy lifestyle, being successful and maintaining stability in today’s society. Most of young America does not understand the importance of education due to the fact that they have not lived life as an adult with responsibilities. As a child you don’t fully grasp the concept of how being educated helps to live a comfortable lifestyle. As a child transitions into adulthood, it becomes transparent how a higher education equals better living.
Children are always encouraged to stay in school. Go as far as you can in education. Some may go on to college after high school because of feeling it’s the right move to make. The question is why is it the right move to make? Why is education so important? Having a great education is important in life because without knowledge you have nothing.

Therefore it is important to further your education to receive a higher paying job. “This is important because typically, wages tend to increase as educational attainment increases.”(Arthur- Rene Cantu)
Therefore a higher education is essential to earning a higher pay. The more learn, the more you earn. A high school diploma isn’t enough anymore. In the job world, a bachelor and master degrees speak volumes. A high school diploma gets a job but a college degree gets a career. (The 2001 median wage for someone with some high school is less than half of the median pay of someone with a master’s degree. The median pay for a bachelor’s

“In the United States today, there is no more certain investment than a college education”(Carnevale and Melton). Education has always been a major component of American society. One can only go so far without an education, and the more education and knowledge someone has, the better their chances of being successful. Some people believe a high school education is enough, and it is, enough to land a job at a fast food restaurant. I speculate they feel this way because they feel school is not for them, or maybe they just do not want to go far in life. College helps develop skills that are necessary for life, and gives them an education that will enhance their future; and despite its few drawbacks, college is worth it.…

A college degree is a monument to the years of hard work and dedication necessary to attain it, and employers often view this monument as a sign of good character traits they seek in an employee. For example, if two equal applicants interview for a position, one having a college degree and the other a high school diploma, the employer will view the college graduate higher simply because of the hard work necessary to graduate college. College can be viewed as an opportunity for students to learn who they are as well; they are no longer under the daily supervision of their parents, and people tend to branch out of their comfort zones when this is true. Unemployment in America is a problem, and according to author Rodney K. Smith in his article, “Yes, a College Education is Worth the Costs” the percentage of people who are unemployed is much higher for those with only a high school diploma. (Smith 29) Statistically speaking, if you get a college degree, it is easier to find a job in the current economy. Points like these make attending college understandable, to…
