The belief that healthcare is a right for every citizen in the US, is a popular idea that many people who associate with the democratic party or green party agree with. In 2008 when Barack Obama took office, he promised every US citizen that they would receive healthcare. Some pros that would come about when having a single payer system is it could drop the cost of healthcare for everybody. I do believe that healthcare should be much cheaper and more affordable. The system in the US is not perfect, but it is still very good. Countries that have universal health care usually have to wait almost two months for a specialist, compared to the US where the average wait is 18 days. The only way to pay for universal healthcare is through increasing taxes. Many countries in Europe have universal health care, and many of these countries have tax rates that reach almost 50%. Although I don’t think that healthcare is a right, I do understand that some situations are different.
