The Importance Of Smarthinking
Some of the other services that Smarthinking offers are; writing center, drop in tutoring, writing center, and, offline-questions (Bethel University, 2014). It is great to be able to still ask questions offline and to get tutoring on your assignment. The amazing thing about this service is that everything that you need in order to become a successful writer is at the palm of your hands. I think out of all of the Smarthinking services that the one that is going to benefit me the most is the writing center. I can get help with my essay but mostly important I can use the feedback by the e-structor to make sure my essay is heading in the right direction. It is good to know that, “when you have completed a draft of an essay or paper, submitting …show more content…
There’s several things that a person can do in their life to overcome those difficult obstacle. Some of those might be to keep positive people in your life, always speak life and positive words into existence, and to keep a positive outlook on life. Having and setting goals for yourself, helps you look at things in a positive light and will keep you focused on the things that are more important. Having those goals is only step one, step two involves having the determination to accomplish those goals that are set.

It is important to know that, “we need others to survive, and our methods of interacting will affect the degree to which we obtain our needs” (Harrington, 2012, pg 29). Having a social life is important along with having a good physical life as well. If an obstacle is looked at in a negative perspective then it could have a negative effect on a person emotionally. After reading “Where There’s A Will, There’s A Way”, it helped me realize that we need each order to survive and to feed each other’s needs. It is true that “Self-acceptance is not based upon performance or result. It is about acknowledging failures and recognizing that efforts need to be made towards improvement” (Harrington, 2012, pg 29). In order to overcome those obstacles one must love you and surround themselves with positive space and

In life, to successfully move forward I need to establish goals. “The tragedy in life is not reaching your goal, but having no goal to reach” (Leadership for Student Activities, 2005). I must have a plan of how I will achieve my goals and be able to identify when an important element of that goal is reached. Possible setbacks must be considered and purposeful schemes arranged for when the unexpected shows up. According to Deci and Ryan (1984), “Goals, whether trivial, routine, significant or life altering, are part of peoples everyday lives”.…

For the purpose of my argument, “acceptance” means being okay with whatever state your life is in, knowing that nothing will ever be 100% perfect. Imperfection is a natural human attribute: accept it. Along with that comes “perspective”, the outlook you have on life. The matter is as simple as being an optimist versus being a pessimist. It is important not to compare your life to someone who “has it better”, because those unnecessary comparisons will not bring you happiness. It also matters whether your focus is on the negatives or the positives, and what you let your mind dwell on. A negative mind will never give you a positive life.…

You must have the strong will to “want” to accomplish whatever goal you set for yourself. For example, when I was playing the game of chicken and always lost in the beginning, this would be the obstacle that stood in front of me, but I overcame this by not saving any strokes to get back. I remember a time when I was saying, “You want to know how I did it? This is how I did it, Anton: I never saved anything for the swim back.” Another example of how I overcame my obstacles is obvious. My biggest obstacle that I faced was when the company Gattaca only allowed “pure breeds,” if you will, to be co-workers and be able to go up to space, which was my dream. I surpassed that rule by impersonating my good friend Jerome. A quote he said to me once was, “I got the better end of the deal. I only lent you my body - you lent me your dream.” Jerome was immobilized from waist down when he was hit by the bus, which let me impersonate him and fulfilling my dreams of going to space. All my hard work is finally paying off. My big goal that I have been longing to achieve is in sight. Not many people get to live my dream, but it took a lot of planning and thought for me to sneak my way into Gattaca. My next point will be my final thought about human…

During life we all face many obstacles, and barriers while trying to achieve a goal. Even though we may not know what’s the opposite term for working toward a goal continuing to move forward even though you face obstacles or barriers we’ll were using a term know as persistence. As I work toward achieving my goal the I endured many barriers. Such as my physical ability to play sports, my knowledge for the game, & my parents working source. Dana Linn Bailey once said, “If you have discipline, drive and determination nothing is impossible.” If you put your mind to anything, and have confidence you can accomplish things. When you let the hard times get to you it will bring your confidence down. Determination will help you get through the hard times even if you don’t think you can overcome them.…

Without goals you have nothing to work towards. Some of the goals I have set for myself this year are to get into a high school program. The programs I would like to be in are Computer Science at Freehold Boro, Medical Science at Freehold Boro, or International Baccalaureate program and Freehold Township. I plan on achieving this goal by studying hard, getting good grades, and always striving for more. Another goal I have set for myself is to make the playoffs this year in football. I plan on achieving this goal by working hard at practice and getting all my teammates to work hard also. If I achieve these goals I think I will have an even more honorable…

Setting Personal Goals early on in life will help you later on in life when life gets tougher. Goals are most important when wanting to get through life, and to strive in life is a great personal achievement in life, but to strive you must set goals. “Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not, Genius will not, Education will not. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Person” has solved and always sole the problems of the human race”. Stated Calvin Coolidge. Setting goals is what life is about, but what if you don’t have goals or useless goals like Michel Ore from the movie Blindside.…

Smarthinking is a great tool to utilize in today’s nontraditional classrooms. It’s another process I can use to refresh my writing skills and have my writing critiqued. I was surprised by the areas where I need work. Being so concerned with not including too much information, my writing was actually too vague. Another big problem was that my submission lacked a strong thesis, which is one of the first steps in writing. Furthermore, I learned I can get to the point without using so many words. The feedback my instructor provided is helpful to focus on the areas I need to improve while in this program. I’m excited to to use Smarthinking on future assignments, as I feel it will strengthen my…

    Being Grateful

    • 1589 Words

Are you someone who has an undeniably strong drive to succeed? Do you want to succeed for yourself and your family? The way to success is simple: Gratitude. A rule shared with me is that "every single day you should find something for which to be grateful.” When I live by this rule, my life changes for the better, and I 've seen it work for others as well. Spending too much time dwelling on negative things can derail you from your success. Things will come up that will change your plans or cause them to be put on the backburner. Do not be discouraged. It is extremely hard not to focus on these negative things. Teaching yourself to focus on the positive and good things in your life will change your mindset. It will help you see things in a new and more positive way. Take every setback as a new challenge for you to overcome. As simple as it sounds, it can be quite difficult. Once you are in a negative mindset, it’s really hard to break free of that way of thinking. Learning to be grateful for all the amazing things you have may take a little time, but a grateful heart will see you through life 's challenges. After getting through the tough times you may even find yourself grateful for the hardships because of the lessons learned. Remember to find something to be grateful for every single day. However insignificant it may seem at the time, a little gratitude goes a long way.…
