The Importance Of Speeding In School
This morning while we were serving breakfast, one of our teachers got hit by another driver just across the street. The speed limit during the school hours is 20mph and this person was speeding and he didn’t make the stop sign. The teacher had only a few scratches and a sore arm.

The driver told the police that his car had slipped because it was raining. If this had happened during the winter it was credible but not when the temperature was 41 degrees. This incident could have been avoided if the driver had not been speeding in a school zone.

At approximately 8:00 a.m. on April 25, 2015, Allana Johnson was traveling east on Sunshine St. intending to take US 65 south to Branson for work. As she got close to Lone Pine Rd, she glanced to the right at the intersection to be sure no one was going to make a right turn in front of her. It was all clear so she entered the intersection when a vehicle came out of nowhere directly in front of her. As a result, Allana had no time to react, and she violently slammed into the passenger side of the vehicle on the passenger side in a T-bone effect.…

In the statistics I read, I found that in every category there was “speeding too fast”. Obviously that is a problem in Utah. In my experience with drivers, I have noticed that many people speed and don’t even realize that they are doing so. I think that speeding is a problem because so many people die from it. On the page it stated that “15.2%” of people die from speeding and that “14.7%” of teens die from speeding. I will admit that it is shocking that those percentages are so high. I didn’t expect that many deaths from just going to fast in a car. It has brought new light into my mind that people need to be more aware of how fast they go.…

Icy roads are a common occurrence for many during the winter. But if you’re not extremely careful, these conditions can become very dangerous very quickly. This was the case with Ethan. He was driving down a street when he hit a patch of ice and began sliding towards a stop sign that he crashed into. When police arrived, Ethan was arrested for speeding as the speed limit was 35 miles per hour on that particular road. There are two people who claim to have caught the crash but one says Ethan was speeding while the other says he was not. Ethan also never slowed down before crashing into the pole because his foot caught under the pedal because the floor was covered with trash which trapped it under the gas.…

Speed limit is a very important step to protect our children. Some people get off of work late so they kids have to walk home from school. I think 15 mph is perfect for school zone areas. If a child drop his/her backpack the drive should see it and stop. Kids can be unpredictable they will run in front of a car an blink of an eye .Its takes us as adults/drivers to pay more attention and slow down.…

He was driving down a road where there was a bad accident on the other side, emergency vehicles such as fire trucks and ambulances were everywhere. His lane was pretty clear and moving however the car in front of him abruptly slammed and their brakes and stopped in the middle of the lane. My father did not have to react fully and when he slammed on his brakes his car was not able to come to a complete stop and ended up ramming into the car that stopped in front him. This car stopped to take a look at the accident that was the other side of the road which is just plain ironic since they ended up causing an accident of their own. Luckily in the accident my father was involved in both parties involved turned out okay and virtually unharmed. However, my father’s car is most likely totaled although we will not know for certain until we take it in to be checked. When people are in accidents due to distracted driving not everybody is so lucky, many distracted driving accidents are…

There were many cases when cars did not see me and almost hit my bicycle. Because motorists dislike sharing the road, bicyclists are harassed by some motorists who get desperate and start yelling, honking, and insulting riders. Some motorists believe that bike riders, when there are no bike lanes, should ride on the sidewalks and that the roads belong to vehicles. According to the Los Angeles Times newspaper, road rage is a common experience among motorists and especially when on congested streets. Just two weeks ago, in the LA Times, “a physician was accused of deliberately injuring two cyclists by slamming on his car's brakes on a narrow Brentwood road and was convicted Monday of mayhem, assault with a deadly weapon and other serious criminal charges.” It is shocking how a physician whose job it is to take care of people can have road rage against bicyclists. Scared of the same violence, some of the international students at SDSU told me they now ride their bikes on the sidewalk. To their surprise, some received a fine of $250 for doing so. Most of these students were aware that what they were doing was illegal, but said they were too afraid to ride in the street. They also did not expect an expensive fine. I have to admit, I was also shocked. Motorists usually receive lesser fines for moving violations that are far more…

Speeding is a factor in 31 percent of all fatal crashes, killing an average of 1,000 Americans every month, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), which estimates the cost to society of speed-related crashes to be more than $40 billion each year. Speeding is a problem not only on freeways, but also on local streets. Many commuters opt to take surface streets, thinking they can more efficiently…

Distracted driving; even know this is a very hard and complex problem to solve, their are organizations out there trying to end this horrific problem. Some examples of these organizations are Teens Against Distracted Driving, and End Distracted Driving. Their purpose is to “ educate teens about the dangers of driving while distracted.” And they do this by letting teenagers create posters, flyers, websites, etc. On the other hand, End0DD helps solve this problem by posting lots of statistics, posting presentations, and blogs from people that have lost loved ones to this problem. We have just went over different organizations trying to end this problem. Lets now go over the problem itself. Mountains .jpg…

The reason she got rear ended was because the teen was on his phone texting. Then my mom’s friend was on the interstate driving, and she rolled her car because she was texting. Now she has to get surgery because of the accident she caused. Then there was a story in May where a school bus driver got fired for texting and driving. Why would she risk 50 children’s lives? Texting and driving makes me livid, because what if the teen was going faster, he could have injured my sister and my nephew because of one text. The lady that rolled her car is lucky she didn’t injure anyone besides herself. It is relieving that the bus driver got fired, because all of the children were in her hands and she couldn’t handle…

There are many challenges that teens face. They face drugs and peer pressure, but the main cause of teen death in the United States is caused by reckless driving, drunk driving, and texting while driving. They sometimes make these poor choices because they don't know their certain limits. Often times, they make these decisions and it’s too late for them to see the consequences. Teens should be aware of the consequences of breaking these rules that could impact their life or someone else's. Making teens aware can make other people feel safe when they are on the road.…

    The Dangers of Speeding

I will never ever speed again. Speeding cost way too much time and aggravation to continue speeding. This ticket has made me realize that all speeding does is put me and other people in danger and waste a lot of gas. And in these economic times wasting gas isn’t the best idea. I am unemployed and I’ve been trying to get a job to pay for this ticket so my parents wouldn’t have to. This is good because now I know that speeding is just wrong. I can drive 45 in a 45 and some one could be doing 60 and catch a red light and I’ll be there right next to him, sure he got there faster but I didn’t waste five dollars in gas just to catch a red light. Statistics show that if the speed limit is 65 and you go 75 it will get you to your destination 10 minutes faster but you also increase your risk of accident by 25%. Honestly I don’t want to risk an accident over 10 minutes of time. It’s pointless.…

    Speeding Essay

There are so many penalties for speeding. If you speed you could loose control of your car or hurt someone or even end someone's life. You could also get pulled over like I did and get a speeding ticket and have to go to court. If you go to court you most likely will get your license taken away, which was in my case. My punishment was nothing major just a short driving class, an essay and a 30 day license suspension. Speeding has consequences and if you speed you should be penalized to learn your lesson. So if you're running late, or in a hurry or just not paying attention do not speed, because it doesn't get you anywhere but in more trouble. Speeding can also be going too slow. The law says that "no person shall operate a vehicle at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation or to comply with the law." If you do get a speeding ticket on the first offense, if it is under the speed limit you might not get your license taken away at all but you will have to attend traffic school and write an essay. On a second offense you lose your license for 30-90 days, depending on if you lost your license on the first offense. On the third offense you lose your license until you are 18. Speeding is very dangerous because as I said before it could hurt or kill someone or yourself. The reason I chose to speed was because I was in a hurry. I was leaving school and had to do a couple of little chores before work, so I chose to speed to make up time. Unfortunately because of my speeding I got pulled over, I got a speeding ticket and didn't get home until till almost 2:00. Of course, I had to tell my mother. I got grounded and had to pay my mom back for the cost of the ticket, court cost and traffic school. My mom also took my driving privileges away. I could only drive to school and back. I also had to regain trust with my parents that I would not speed anymore and this was no…

I think Mrs. Baynes, the headmistress, handle the situation as best she can. On one side she has a crying kid and a raging mother claiming that what happened was an adult “betraying the trust” of the child and abusing him. On the other side she has an employee who might have acted a bit harsh, but who claims that there was a justifying reason for his actions. And on a third side she has the school reputation to defend. She cannot allow the parents of the students to believe that…
