Mr. Henderson, a 52-year-old male, was on his way to work during a heavy rainstorm when he lost control of his car and crossed into oncoming traffic where he collided head-on with a small delivery truck. Witnesses accessed the 911 emergency medical response system, and paramedics arrived quickly. The driver of the truck suffered only minor cuts and scrapes, but Mr. Henderson was having difficulty breathing and complaining of severe chest pain. Transport time to the nearest trauma center was less than two minutes, so the emergency personnel elected to “scoop and haul.” A large bruise on his chest indicated that Mr. Henderson had experienced blunt trauma from the impact of the steering wheel after the airbag failed to deploy.…

We were finally ready to leave and began walking to the car, which during the walk I remembered I needed to stop and get gas. So we headed to the gas station, filled up CoCo, which was my first vehicle, and were off to the dinner. In order to get to the dinner we had to get on the I-10 to I-110. We started off at great start on the highway. Crazily, only ten minutes into the ride we faced complications. While driving in the middle lane on I-10, an eighteen wheeler truck felt the need that it had to get over from the left lane into the middle. With the position I was in I could neither get over to my right nor to my left due to other vehicles being there. There was also a vehicle behind me. The truck began veering over to the right into my lane. I began to honk my horn and slow down as much as possible without causing the car behind me to hit me. I assumed the truck would realize by my honking of the horn it just was not the best time for him to come over into the lane I was in. Unfortunately he did not, and by the time the vehicle behind had gotten over for me to slow down even more the back of the truck hit the front of my car. The truck was lower than usual and the back hit the hood of my car sending my car spinning three times thereafter smacking into the barrier on the bridge. Initially, I was frozen in my seat thinking how fast it escalated but how slow it felt as far as spinning and hitting the…

On January 22, 2011, Felicia Harris was on her way home from work. She was driving East on Highway 43 approaching the intersection of Highway 43 and Sharon Road. Upon reaching the intersection she was driving at a high rate of speed ignoring the speed suggestion signs. By the time she began to apply her brakes it was too late, she was into the curve of the road and over compensated to gain control and veered off the road crashing head on into a tree. Unfortunately Felicia did not survive the collision with the tree. She was not the first or the last to die at that intersection. The need for a STOP sign is evident.…
