The Jacket by Gary Soto: An Analysis
Sometimes you have to know to forget about the past and live the present. Gary sot thinks that his jacket stinked so bad “a jacket of dayold guacamole”it made people run away , which ruined his life. Gary soto explains this idea about be thankful for what u have which allows the reader to do an analysis of this story.
This story reminds me of the time I went to the mall and I fell and got mud all over me. It smelled so bad and the worst part was I had to wear it for a week and i was so embarrassed unlike the story in the story gary soto had got a green color jacket just like mine and he had to wear it for about 3 years and he was embarrassed. And This story probably had one of the best figurative language.

This story has the best figurative language that I have read probably with out its

juice and detailed figurative language I would probably be lost in this story if it never had its figurative language and just by the way Gary soto say ands explains it makes it and makes it pop out so u know that's figurative language. And poping out this story is like another story called eleven. In the story eleven a girl had to wear a smelly jacket that "smelt like cottage cheese" and it was on her birthday which made it Even worse and they embarrassed but the teacher made her cry in front of the whole class which was pretty meat up but she but she was embarrassed and Gary soto was embarrassed over all it was a pretty good book. This books was one of the best book some one can read it had a lot of everything which made it a good book. It had its bad parts which really didn't have no bad parts it was a over all good book Maybe there was one or two bad parts but it didn't effect the

story from not being bad but Gary soto does make really good books and this probably has to be one of the best.

S.E. Hinton was only 15 years old when she wrote this extremely detailed book. I liked her book a lot because of how much detail she put into it. I didn’t like the movie a lot because I was kind of expecting it to be a lot like the book but was disappointed when it left out many different parts of the book. While the book and movie have many similarities and differences, the book was more effective in telling the story.…

I walked outside and it was hot vs. I took a leap outside into the sun that blazed down on me it felt like I was wearing millions of winter coats. Which one help you visualize which is happening better? The book I'm reading which is "Uglies" by Scott Westerfeld used a lot of figurative language throughout this story. For an example on page 238 it states, "it just felt flat, like a song she'd heard to many time." By using a simile it helped me understand what she meant by flat. If that simile wasn't there I could of though it meant deflated or flat like a pancake. To add on, using figurative language makes the book more clear and it allows the book to continue with a flow. As you can see, the book I chose to read "Uglies" contains figurative…

“Eleven” is a story by Sandra Cisneros, which is about a girl named Rachel and an ugly red sweater. While in class, Rachel’s teacher is asking the class whose red sweater it is. Rachel is seemingly the only one in class that doesn’t say that it’s hers, which makes one of her classmates, whom she calls stupid Sylvia Saldívar, say that it’s Rachel’s. Rachel is forced to put on the sweater and starts to have a crying fit, feeling like she was three years old again, due to her saying that when you’re eleven, you carry all your previous years (ten, nine, eight, etc.) with you, and the fact that it was her birthday that day didn’t really help her anyway. Finally, another classmate speaks up and says that it’s hers, which lets Rachel take off the sweater in relief and stops her breakdown.…

Figurative language is created using allusion, alliteration, metaphor, simile and personification. A simple definition of figurative language is language that is used in a special way to create a special effect. Shakespeare uses figurative language as he speaks with metaphors, similes, and personification in A Midsummer Night's Dream “O, I am out of breath in this fond chase!” (Act 2 vs.81) This writing technique sets Shakespeare apart from other writers. Although it may be confusing for teenagers to read, it started a new era of writing. Shakespeare’s elaborate writing style helps him prove his point more clearly. Shakespeare’s use of figurative language such as similes and metaphors supports his message that love is the most powerful emotion.…
