The Life As A Case Manager Summary

In the video The Life as a Case Manager was a major eye opener. I was not sure of what a case manager actually was. I did not understand the full meaning of what a case manager was and what they did. I thought that it wasn’t as hard as the video depicted it to be. The video showcased actuality and thing that really took place. I know it is difficult to separate ones personal life and feelings from the families.
I thought the video was very insightful as to what you can expect and what really goes on. It was hard for me to look at the pictures that were displayed on the screen about the abuse that children have endured. I also thought that the case managers main task and job was to take children from abusive and problematic relationships in
families. I realized that the agencies do have a major impact on families and it does not just rely on taking children from parents. I did not agree with the video when it did actually show the pictures. I understand that there was a point that was trying to be made but I did not think it was necessarily to display those images.
Learning about the task of a case manager I was able to understand the full aspects and the reality of it. I did not know that a case manager also dealt with helping people get the children back. I wish that the video depicted people who have actually had children taken by case managers. It was helpful to get an understanding of what a case manager was and the experiences they had. I also wish that there were more representations of actual families who have been through the process of having a case manager. I think this would have illustrated the realities of being a case manager and showed the good side about the work of being a case manager and having one. Overall, the video gave me a new aspect on what a case manager is and the perks of helping and servicing people. Though it seems difficult I believe it can be rewarding helping other by providing beneficial services.
