On the 15th of May 2008, SMK Darul Ehsan organised a leadership camp at Hutan Lipur Pandan, Kuantan. The camp was attended by all the form five students. Its objective was to enable students to get along well with each other and help them to develop their self-esteem. At the camp, the most anticipated time by all was when the best group leader was announced. And as predicted by most, Amir Zulhaqeem Zakaria, a tall dark, looking guy, managed to get the prestigious award. His positive traits made him an ideal choice .
Amir Zulhaqeem Zakaria, popularly known as Ca’em, is a seventeen-year old guy who comes from Jerantut. There were so many reasons on why he was chosen as the best group leader and one of them is that he was responsible. He is also a caring person who always made sure his group members were safe all the time. He instilled confidence among his group members which led to victory in the camp debate. While looking for a book for my class assignment I bumped into tremendous amount of them talking about leadership. Why there are so many? Why has leadership received so much attention? Which one I have to pick? Why we study leadership at all? Isn't it what coming with years of experience? Many people believe that a leader is an aggressive person who "inspires" others to work hard to accomplish important tasks. Then why those publications take a colossal part in the market of popular books? Is leadership a learned behavior? "On Becoming a Leader" by Warren Bennis is the book I picked, intrigued by the front cover announcement "The Leadership Classic". Warren Bennis's approach in this book can be described as a "leadership by looking around". He discusses the essence of leadership and how individuals become leaders by examining numbers of successful leaders. Presence of these examples is very helpful, because we can integrate those leadership qualities into our own lives. In the very beginning of his book Bennis said "leadership is like beauty: it's hard to define, but you know it when you see it" . This statement is reflective throughout the book in those examples.…

I must cater each programme to suit the needs of the individual learner, I do this by setting each new starter off on initial assessments so that I can see what level they are currently at which will help me decide which course is the most suitable and which approach will be the most beneficial for the learner. I am also responsible for creating strong professional relationships with the learners new employers and maintaining relationships with existing employers this is for two reasons so they would recommend us to other employers so we gain a good reputation and so that they will want to use Lifeskills as a training provider for all of their staff and will not use a different organisation as it is a competitive market. I also advertise vacancies for our employers who have had good experiences in the past with apprentices and would like to recruit a new one. I agree with the employer all of the details to go on to the advert and interview all of the candidates and trial period the suitable ones for a week before sending them to the employer themselves to interview and then make the final decision.…

In my article, "What Makes a Leader?," the author talks about how emotional intelligence is the key behind becoming a great leader. However, emotional intelligence isn't just being able to know your emotions it's much more than that. The author explains that emotional intelligence has four components to it. The first component being self-awareness, which is having a deep understanding of ones emotions, strengthens, weaknesses, needs, and drives.
