2. It is stated in the abstract that that distorted mitochondrial working provokes cell to generate excessive ROS. How do they know this with certainty? Could not cellular (non-mitochondrial) oxidant stress cause mitochondrial dysfunction? Studies presented in the manuscript do not rule out the contributions of cellular oxidant stress.
3. I am quite aware that because this study involves human subjects, it may not be possible to obtain gastrointestinal lymphocytes. However, I wonder whether the study of peripheral blood lymphocytes accurately recapitulates functions of gastrointestinal lymphocytes
