Hutchison 6 with it”. He is saying that lost love and memories are different forms of love. That is just two of many different forms and kinds of love that you can show or receive. I agree in what Albom is saying and memories and lost love are not even close to all the forms of love that are in this world. When Albom says that you do not just find love like it is “an object by a rock”, I agree completely with that. You do not just search for it. Love just happens. You can’t explain how it feels or how it came to you. It just does. Only your heart can make you feel it.
Just saying “I love you” is not the only way to show you love someone. Your actions also show it. In my opinion, your actions show it better than your words do. Learning how to love is one of the most important things you will ever do in your life. Without love, life would be pointless. You would not be doing anything for the love of it, such as sports, hobbies, your job, and so on. If you open up your heart and let love in, it is a special feeling that only you can feel. When you can still have strong affection and emotion for someone even though they are far from perfect, that is love. Love has no boundaries. Love is when you can accept people for who they really are. Love has many different definitions people use. Love can refer to different types of feelings. For example, how you feel towards a friend. Some other examples are when you have a pleasure such as “I love animals” or a romantic love like your husband or wife. Loving your family is a form. Love is also a feeling of personal attachment. Showing you love someone comes from the heart. You cannot be forced to do something to show you love them or it is not really love.

In my eyes and Albom’s eyes, our opinion on love is pretty much the same. We both agree that there are many different ways love comes into your life. There are also many ways love leaves. It is just one of those things that only your heart can feel.

In Osip Mandelstam’s poem numbered “300”, and in Marina Tsvetaeva’s poem “you loved me” both speakers are struggling with a loss of love. For Tsvetaeva’s speaker, the loss stems directly from a love built in a relationship and partner and the sudden feeling of betrayal and loss. For Mandelstam’s speaker however, the loss of love is in that of his friends and family, and not in that of an intimate relationship. They have betrayed his trust, and left him in a life of solitude and loneliness. Both speakers are encountering a powerful loss of something they care about and in their poems they are showing their resiliency and rebuttal towards that loss. This rebuttal comes from a place of isolation and understanding. It is only through recognition…

Love is a matter of the heart. Because of this, love means something different to every person. The Webster dictionary provides thirteen different definitions of love alone. The first definition is, “Strong affection for another rising out of kinship or personal ties” (LoveAbout). This definition is one most people would relate to at least while growing up. Webster’s continues with another definition saying, “attraction based on sexual desires: affection and tenderness felt by lovers” (LoveAbout). This kind of love is experienced as people grow older. This also is the kind of love experienced in R.S. Thomas’ “Remembering”. The poem starts by reminding the younger readers to love what they have now because one day the relationship will change. Thomas states, “Love her now for her ecstasies,…

One of the largest struggles the human race faces is love; everyone wants a piece of it but doesn’t know what it truly is. In Krista Tippett's interview with Michelle Alexander, Alexander introduces the following ideas: “I’m not talking about the romantic love, or the idealized version of love, but that the simple act of caring for one another,” “human beings struggling to love and find our way, making mistakes, but still yearning for a deeper connection,” “what I found is that there’s love to be found. There’s joy there. There’s suffering. There’s redemption”. In Chinese Handcuffs by Chris Crutcher and Catcher in the rye by J.D. Salinger, these ideas relate directly to the main characters Dillon and Holden and the journey of love they both…

So she says that all these types of solitude, when compared with that profounder site, "That polar privacy", which is "A soul admitted to itself" -- you'll find a different kind of solitude...one that possesses "Finite infinity." “Modern Love” is riddled with a tone full of regret and heartache, making this modern love seem more like the opposite of love. The speaker says “she wept with waking eyes” and her “strange low sobs” were “strangled mute.” The words describing this woman are full of grief, full of “vain regret.” Her husband is painfully aware of his wife’s sadness, through her reaction to “his hand’s light quiver by her head” and her sobs that were “dreadfully venomous to him.” The speaker’s worried tone shows how much the husband wishes for his wife to be happy, but his actions of loving care and cautiousness do nothing to quell her tears. This makes modern love seem hopeless and full of despair for both the man and his distraught wife.…
