The Mitochondrial Disease
The Mitochondria is an organelle found in each cell in your body. It controls the energy function of each cell and ultimately the energy function of your body. The mitochondria are a vital part of how your body works and functions. If the genes in your body mutate effecting the mitochondrial your body will work differently. I was in 7th grade, in the hospital sick again when I began to learn about what was causing my illness.
Since then the mitochondria has interested me but when I was recently diagnosed with mitochondrial disease I realized just how important the organelle is to your body. The mitochondrial produces ATP which is released into your body as energy, but when your mitochondrion is damaged like mine it does not produce the same

Mitochondria carry out critical steps in the extraction of energy from food, and the conversion of that “trapped” energy to a useful form. They are the cell’s “power plants.” Chloroplasts are organelles found in algae and in the green parts of plants. Chloroplasts have two membranes surrounding them, as well as an internal system of stacked membrane discs.…

The mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell it provides energy to the cell through respiration. The food that we eat is broken into simpler molecules like carbohydrates, fats and etc in our bodies. These are sent to the mitochondrion where they are further precessed to produce charged molecules that combine with oxygen and produce Adenosine TriPhosphate (ATP) molecules. This entire process is known as oxidative phosphorylation.Mitochondria also helps in the building of certain parts of the blood, and hormones like testosterone and estrogen.…

Mitochondria- Mitochondria are the energy factories of the cells. The energy currency for the work that animals must do is the energy-rich molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP). The ATP is produced in the mitochondria using energy stored in food. Just as the chloroplasts in plants act as sugar factories for the supply of ordered molecules to the plant, the mitochondria in animals and plants act to produce the ordered ATP molecules as the energy supply for the processes of life.…

They both are astonished on how it really works and would love to tell people all about it. As they approach the mitochondria they are star-struck. It’s just like how they pictured it the unusual organelle. The mitochondria acts like the power plant of the entire cell. It’s the site of all cellular respiration where the energy or better known as ATP (adenosine triphosphate) is released from all the energy that was stored from foods into the cell. The mitochondrion is folded into many places like a double membrane called the cristae, which is the inner membrane. The outer membrane is called the matrix. If it was up to the two scientist they wish they could stay in the cell forever but sadly they have to come out so they can explain to others what they have seen so they have others gain the knowledge they have doing this…

Mitochondria- The mitochondria is the energy supplier to the cell. It is enclosed by a double membrane, and is identifiable due to its cristae which tend to divide their interiors. This is like a power plant because the power plant supplies electricity to the entire town. Power plants are enclosed by the building walls and a fence for protection, such as a double membrane. It is also divided into many floors, such as the interior of the Mitochondria.…

Their main function is the conversion of the potential energy of food molecules into ATP. Every type of cell has a different amount of mitochondria. There are more mitochondria in cells that have to perform lots of work, for example - your leg muscle cells, heart muscle cells etc. Other cells need less energy to do their work and have less mitochondria. Mitochondrion (pl. Mitochondria). This is a sausage-shaped organelle (8µm long), and is where aerobic respiration takes place in all eukaryotic cells. Mitochondria are surrounded by a double membrane: the outer membrane is simple, while the inner membrane is highly folded into cristae, which give it a large surface area. The space enclosed by the inner membrane is called the matrix, and contains small circular strands of DNA. The inner membrane is studded with stalked particles, which are the site of ATP synthesis.…

The mitochondria provides the necessary energy to perform any task within the cell. Its ATP is irrevocably required in every facet of cellular productivity and without it no cell would be able to function. I refuse to stand up here and tell you that no other organelle is important. Every organelle is a vital part of this community that contributes to the efficacy of this cell; however, when determining a leader it is necessary to pick someone who can acquire a role of guidance in troublesome times.…
