The Muusky: A Short Story
BAM! The crowd roared after I did this, I just hit my first single of my career, and not the only time I will get another one. It felt musky while I hit it, and it was beginning to get cloudy in the distance as well. My friends Trevor, Collin, Evan, Andrew, and Michael congratulated me once I got into the dug-out. At the time I was only seven years old. I always remind myself that I have to work for things in order to accomplish things. I was mesmerized that I actually hit it, at first I just tried to swing and somehow I got a hit on it. Sadly, nobody on my team could bring me to home plate. So the inning is over as I see the number one change to a two. I was surprised that the coach did not put me on the field this inning. As I watch the

It took us hard work over the summer with struggles of band members' instrument being out of pitch or off timing etc. Although, it was all worth it until we heard the words from the announcer at the area competition that we can move forward state. I can remember people next me cheering and crying. It was not a clinking sound, like the ones you get on grounders, it was a crack. The sound was beautiful, I have heard this sound before but not as glorious, it sounded like the gates of heaven opening up. The tingling sensation you get when you get a bad hit, was not there. I cannot describe the feeling of when the big yellow ball hits your bat, it is something you have to do yourself to fully understand the beautiful feeling. I dropped the bat and bolted to first, knowing that I was going to be able to sprint to second. I rounded first, like a race car does around a turn. I look into right field I see the tall lanky right fielder still running for the ball that was at least another 30 feet ahead of her. Huffing and puffing as my lungs start to get heavy because of the adrenaline. Now noticing that I am going so fast, Kenzie is only a few feet in front of me, I can not get too close or we will both be called out. Slowing down just enough to see that where my father had once been sitting, is empty. I then remembered how hot it was, it felt like the sun was melting on us. So my dad asked if I wanted some drinks. Of course I wanted drinks so he left. At this point I was at third and I slowed down thinking that was all I was going to get out of the hit. The thought that my dad was not here to see it made me feel like their was a hole in my…

Neighbour Rosicky, one of Willa Cather’s stories of Nebraska, is about Mr. Rosicky’s life in the prairie of Midwestern America. He is a Czech immigrant who spends his early life in London and New York and then move to Nebraska for farming life. As a reader, because my home is in the countryside and my grandparents are farmers, I am so touched by Old Rosicky’s great affection for nature, land, and farming life. Through the old man, the harmony between land and man is reflected. It seems to me that farming in his own land gives him a free, simple, and stable life, and the life with land is what he loves most from his childhood to the end of his life.…

Modest Musorgsky is a famous composer of programmatic music with his best example being Pictures at an Exhibition: a series of short pieces, all pertaining to his close friends paintings, Viktor Hartman. Musorgsky and Hartman's relationship was founded in their passion for art and music. Hartman's paintings were a large source of inspiration for Musorgsky and his compositions, where each section of Pictures was written to represent a certain painting. Not only were the pieces written to represent a painting, the mood that is depicted in each painting is reflected in each piece. The structure of Pictures resembles a trip to an art exhibition, with it's promenades between the main paintings/pieces.…

The very next day, we wanted to go biking earlier than most of the usual locals, so we left at 9 AM. We had to backtrack to get back to the amazing spectacle from the previous night, but our muscles were still sore from the day before. Ryan wanted to see if I could clear the only jump that was vaguely possible, in fact he dared me to try the jump. Obviously I could not turn down a dare, so I biked about 30 meters away to get some speed, I went off the jump at a minimum of 25 kmh.A moment in my life where I was proud of myself happened around the summer I graduated from high school in 2007.
