players on the field, I start to get uninterested in the game. I start shooting items in the garbage can while the inning is going. The next inning is up as I start to visualize what is going to happen during this inning. I am not up to bat this inning, but the coach said I am going to be playing as short-stop during the bottom of third. The top of the third is over, and it is my time to shine. I go out to short-stop and wait for the ball. The ball is popped straight to me, and I get to the place where I think the ball is going to land. Not to my surprise I the sun is blinding me, and I didn’t have sunglasses so I try to block it out. I suddenly felt something in my glove, and I look in my glove to see the ball. I think to myself ‘WOW I just caught it! How?!’ I hear the crowd explode out of excitement. The next two innings start to heat up a little bit because we actually start to score points. The last inning the other team ties it up three to three. I am up to bat with two outs and a runner on second and third. If I miss this up, then I am going to be really mad. I close my eyes and concentrate on hitting the ball. I open then and I get ready to hit. I take a deep breath as I feel the wind blowing up against me face. The pitcher throws, and I swing…… ‘CRACK’ I felt the ball hit my bat so I run straight to first. I look where the ball is and it is at the shortstop. He throws the ball and I have one foot on the bag and I here the ball in the first baseman's glove. I here the umpire holler, “SAFE!” I run back to home to have a miniature party.
Finally, after the game is over, my team and I go to get ice cream at Dairy Queen, and we win to go onto the tournament games. Sadly we lost the first game we played. My team played well, but we couldn’t pull out a win. This is how I learned to always to work for things in order to accomplish them.
