Safe spaces on college campuses are a place to go where they can avoid views of others, to hide from “trigger-warnings.” These safe spaces are creating a generation that is too sensitive to understand people different from themselves. A Los Angeles Times article “Campuses are Breaking apart into ‘Safe Spaces,’”written by Frank Furedi states: “The cultivation of identity has encouraged such a psychic and emotional distance between people that some prefer to stay in their bubble everywhere they go” (Furedi, Campuses). Students in college are fearful of the outside world and the challenges there. Safe spaces are aiding the lack of development in college; students are not being challenged and pushed to their limits. Political correctness is also making a change in the education system on college campuses. Colleges have been forced to cancel events and change curriculum to be politically correct. Students are afraid to learn about differing opinions, so they create havoc in their community until they get their way. Political correctness on college campuses is creating an opportunity for students to avoid people who are not like them, and people who may challenge their views. Political correctness needs to make its way out of college campuses in order to truly give students a useful college
