During our last class, so on August 29th, we breifly discussed an artist named Corey Arcangel. I was perticularly interested by his because his art reminded me of my boyfriend. My boyfriend is studying at Dawson in Pure and Applied Sciences to eventually study to be a computer technicien. He also has a passion for music and often composes music for the piano and his computer then learns to play them and these perticular peices are quite advanced for his level; his teacher is always quite impressed by his talent! He is in the process of creating his own video game and spend a lot of time on his computer; almost every waking hour!
I find it absolutely mind blowing how much time people now spend in front on screens of some sorts. I miss when people would pick up the phone to talk to you. And what about letters? Does anyone even write anymore? Calligraphy and good pendmenship seems to be a thing of the past, no one puts effort into how they write anymore because everything official that they need is always typed and if not only requires a signature that no one can ever read anyways.
On an other note, I am very excited about the field trip that you have planned for us to go on although I do not know if it will be possible during class hours. Many students in the early class have an other class after our time frame and many students of the late class have a class prior to their time period and it is always almost impossible to coordinate sixty people to meet on either the weekend or during after class hours with the wide variety of work scheduals and after school activities. I do although very much hope that the outting will take place because it is always so much fun to look at art with other liberal arts students. When I went to New York with Liberal Arts over March Break, we visited many meusems of different types of art and it was very enjoyable. I'm almost positive that everyone enjoyed the visits.
I am so excited for this class
