In the 1950’s people did not take bullying seriously, students would bully because they wanted to look tough, cool, be popular, and they wanted that self approval from their peers. They would bully mostly younger kids or students such as “nerds or geeks”(Steven) without having any consequences . The bullying would be physical or verbal just like in lord of the flies they would bully verbally by saying hurtful words like, "You're talking too much...Shut up, Fatty."(Goldin) or , "You're always scared. Yah---Fatty!"(Goldin) and physically when, "Jack snatched the glasses off his face…"(Goldin) or, "Henry and Johnny were throwing sand at Percival who was crying quietly again..."(Goldin). If you would tell an adult that you were being bullied they would just tell you ,“get tough”(Steven) or ,“stand up”(Steven) to the bully. People started to take notice of the effects of bullying in the 90s, when two seniors at Columbine High School in Littleton Colorado, shot twelve students and one teacher to death, and wounded many others. As part of a defense mechanism and survival he had to learn such things. He learned them at a young age, but learning these things still made it hard to tell his friends that he didn’t want anything to do with drugs. For example, on one of his birthdays, his friends thought it would be a good idea to get drunk and smoke cocaine. However, Sampson told his friends that he wasn't into doing that stuff and only a few minutes later his friends were high enough to where they didn't even realize that Sampson had left. Sampson had to learn to tell his friends no, but also at the same time try to fit in. He liked to play sports and he would hang out with his friends but wouldn't touch the drugs unlike his friends. One of the factors that may lead the first grader to take this action could be the way his parents contribute to the child's life. As I was reading the short article, it mentions that for no one was a surprise that the 6 year old killer was being raised in a neglectful and abusive environment. Analyzing this situation from my point of view, I think they were many factors that lead the child to the point of wanting to take control of the problem in his hands. One of those factors could be the abandonment of the parents. Why? Probably the child tried to communicate to his parents about the situation at school but the parent’s lack of their roles as parents lead the child to take the wrong action toward the problem. We may ask, why…

I choose to write about this song because it reminds me of the time when I was in seventh grade and bullied for the first time in my life. I was new to this country and I didn't know my way around and what to expect from the people as well. I was a bit nerdy too so the "cool" kids always picked on me. It was not like physical bullying but it was like mental torture and scaring me to get what they want. They would copy my homework and take my notes and always cheat of me in test and quizzes. I was really afraid to tell anyone because they would threaten me and…
