The Pros And Cons Of Political Parties
I do not necessarily feel that political parties are either good or bad. I do understand both the positive and negative aspects of them, though. The Founding Fathers thought of political parties, or what they liked to call them "factions," a bad thing. Even George Washington was against creating parties. James Madison describes factions in Federalist Papers #10 as "damaging." He said that factions would destroy liberty or would create a society with the citizens sharing the same ideology. However, a democracy is all about the majority of people having a say. How can people do this? There are ways to protect the rights of those people through a series of checks and balances in the government, as discussed by James Madison in Federalist Papers

Party funding has been a controversial subject. On the one hand limitations to party funding would mean that parties would be constricted and possibly unable to spread campaign messages, but without limitation there is a danger of corruption through the promise of donation for political favours. For example, before the 2010 election, accountancy firms donated money to the conservative party in the hopes that in return they would be able to establish government contracts. Tony Blair was also involved with a scandal which suggested that he had taken a £1 million donation in return of exempting Formula one form the ban on the advertisement of tobacco. Despite there being legislation created by parliament to prevent these activities there has still been incidents of foul play.…

It's no secret that the Republican party is now more well-known for their fear mongering and obstructionist tactics than legislating or having any real interest in governing. As many of you may remember, Republicans came under heavy criticism last year for trying to derail the Iran Nuclear Deal through a combination of dangerous propaganda. They attempted to poison public opinion and recklessly interfered with the negotiation process which could have had disastrous consequences. In an underhanded, some have even suggested treasonous move, 47 Republicans lead by Senator Tom Cotton and signed by GOP Presidential candidates Marco Rubio and Rand Paul had sent an open letter to Iran…

INTRODUCTION We live in an era of unprecedented frequency of change in partisan control of government. Since at least 1994, neither of the United States’ two main political parties can be said to have had a lock on control of the House, the Senate, or the presidency. Incredibly, the seven elections from 1998 to 2010 produced six different combinations of party control: a Democratic president with a Republican Congress (1998), a Republican president with a divided Congress (2000), a Republican president with a Republican Congress (2002, 2004), a Republican president with a Democratic Congress (2006), a Democratic president with a Democratic Congress (2008), and a Democratic president with a divided Congress (2010). The United States party system began in 1789 before George Washington was elected to presidency with the formation of the Federalist Party founded primarily by Alexander Hamilton. The name eventually changed to the Republican Party during the Era of Good Feelings. From here, there was a split in politics and the two party system emerged with the National Republican Party and the Democratic Republican Party. From there, the National Republican Party transformed into the Whig Party which opposed the Democratic Party, later known as the Democratic Republican Party. During the Civil War, the Whig Party split into the Cotton Whigs who favored slavery and the Conscience Whigs who opposed slavery. I think that both parties have some good things on their agenda and there are also things that I don’t agree with personally, that are on both the democratic and republican agenda. With that being said I would like to consider myself an Independent. I think it’s common for people of my age (19) to not fully commit to one party.…

To this day, in our election, we have political parties. Political parties are a group of like-minded people, working together to try and win their election. Not all people would say that political parties are important, but I disagree. Some people would agree with me because without them then our elections would be very hard to keep track of. They would be difficult to track because then it would be everyone for themselves so they can’t group the votes. Most people don’t really say much much about political parties but when they do they usually ask. “Why did political parties develop?” and “Did political parties have any problems?”. These questions could easily be answered with some research.…

Political parties are destroying America in my opinion. They shape an alliance to vote an assured way whether the designated official thinks through the bill as correct or incorrect. The need for authority has lead this nation to basically a two party system. Independents and other groups get nominated on odd circumstances, but time and again it takes the backing and money to make it happen. It turns out to be even worse as the public divided these parties, such that liberal Republicans and conservative Democrats. Unquestionably this Presidential election is more or less electing who you oppose less.…

The five agents of socialization heavily influence a person’s political beliefs and views on different issues. Family and friends can influence a person on major political positions and even affect if that person considers themselves liberal, conservative, or moderate. A liberal is open to new behavior or opinions and willing to discard traditional values. A conservative holds to traditional attitudes and values and is cautious about change or innovation, typically in relation to politics or religion. A moderate holds moderate views in politics and sits between the extremes of liberal and conservative beliefs. Because more Americans see both sides of complex issues and see both parties as overly ideological and wish politicians would compromise more, they identify themselves as moderates than as liberals or conservatives.…
