The Pros And Cons Of Specialized Transduction
There are benefits and dangers to everything. Things happen and then sometime things don’t happen. But when these things do happen are they usually good or bad? With specialized transduction, there are many positive sides but there are also the negative sides. IN this essay will will go over both.

Specialized transduction is where there is a set up restricted genes is moved to another cell. During this process there are many different things going on, including deletion and positive things like DNA being put in a good source. Donor genes are mentioned and are transferred genes and depend on where the DNA is located.

The benefits of specialized transductions are very high. Points like transduction being very efficient transfer of a small region, that means the transfer can go over smoother and faster. Specialized transduction is also very helpful source of DNA for the chromosomal region carried by the phage. This means DNA can be extracted and tested more efficiently. Also in specialized transduction it can often be used to select for deletion of some of the chromosomal genes carried on the phage. This means that sometimes unwanted genes can be deleted during transduction and make for an overall better cycle.

This means a bacterial virus can be entered and you would not know until it starts to take affect. There are sometimes many bad genes that are transferred, which also leads to the spread of unknown viruses. All around the downsides include the virus and spreading of the bacteria. This a a major problem and with the smooth transfer of bacteria during the process then it will quicken the speed of the bacterial virus spreading. This leads to many problems and incorporating heredity, can easily be spread during the next

In the process of transduction, the transfer of genes is facilitated by bacteriophage, which is a virus that infects a bacterial host (1). Generalized transduction involves lytic infections that kill the bacterial cells, and during the process, bacterial DNA is packaged into a new phage head which in turn injects the DNA into another bacterium (1). In this lab, P1vir phage was used and grown on the donor strain by making a phage lysate. P1vir phage kills bacterial cells by lytic infections, which is required in the generalized transduction (1). On the other hand, the wild-type p1 is a lysogenic phage and therefore could not be used for the generalized transduction (1).
