Standard testing is made to compare the student’s knowledge with kids the same grade or age level. The problem with this is the tests cause major stress, do not value diversity, creates a limited view of success and learning, and only considers a single test performance upon evaluation. Tests are a huge part in a students life and the fact that standardized testing has not improved student achievement makes the whole idea a waste of time. There is even proof from the public that there is ““no evidence test-based incentive programs are working: “Despite using them for several decades, policymakers and educators do not yet know how to use test-based incentives to consistently generate positive effects on achievement and to improve education.”” Not to mention, Ontario’s Education system spends millions of dollars on these tests ranging at 105 dollars per student tested.
