The purpose of the SIP is to contribute to whole-school improvement in a number of schools in one or more local authorities, provide challenge and support for the senior management team in a number of schools, give information to a governing body on their school's performance and development and work with a range of partners in order to deliver challenge and support for schools. The main accountabilities of a SIP are to:
Discuss and assess a school's self evaluation and school improvement plan against available evidence including the Ofsted report, and comment on the effectiveness of these.

SLTs work closely with parents and other professionals, such as practitioners and occupational therapists.Where a child is being seen by an SLT, appointments may either be clinic-based or setting-based.Therapists work with children who have a range of speech, language and communication difficulties, including language delay, hearing impairment, difficulties with sound production,autism/difficulties with social communication skills, and stammering. With parentsâ€TM permission, therapists should ensure that the childâ€TMs setting receives copies of assessment reports and speech and language programmes, in order that they can be fully implemented in the setting.
Educational Psychologist (EP):
Educational psychologists are employed by the Local Authorities or through private practice. They are concerned with many aspects of childrenâ€TMs learning and emotional development and well being. They are principally involved in assessment of Special Educational Needs and providing support, advice and training for schools, early years settings and the Local Authority itself. They may work with individual pupils, teachers or groups of teachers in a consultative capacity. They provide observations and assessments of pupilâ€TMs performance to support applications for School Action Plus funding and a full Statement of SEN.
