Gladwell, Malcolm. "Marita’s Bargain." Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Collection Grade 12. N.p.: Holt Dougal, 2014. 3-14. Print.
Malcolm Gladwell is using information regarding the known to be successful school across the Bronx area, KIPP schools, to testify his reasoning of the protocols these schools follow that make kids so successful, like Marita, rather than other public schools that don't seem to follow the same regulations. These schools are taken advantage by people who are under the income threshold and simply want the best for the child’s education. According to Carol S. Dweck’s work on “The Secret to Raising Smart Kids” shows two sides of children with same applied situations
and sees the result of how each group of children react and taking that in mind which will be more successful with their education. Success is shown from these kids through their education and how they may attend schools with different protocols, but also about their attitudes toward it and how they take advantage of their education to become successful through their minds.

Carol S. Dweck, a psychology professor from Stanford University, has conducted reasoning on properties that can make, a child who believes your mind can be expanded past its intellectual capabilities, and applied the same properties to children who believe their mindset has a reaching point and therefore can not be expanded. She got different results based on the two different mindsets and compares how those two mindsets determines how the child's progress in their education will look like. Parents can explore these properties and see the results of the two sides and possibly measure how their child’s education will be affected. In contrast to Gladwell Malcolm’s work of “Marita’s Bargain” which informs how students in KIPP schools education has transformed their mind rather than those who go to normal public schools. Children show success by behaving a certain way when different scenarios are thrown to them that may affect their education. How they overcome that obstacle or not defines their result of their educational path.
