Inigo Montoya’s sword started out as nothing more than a request from the count to inigo’s father, Domingo. It took a full year to craft it to perfection and every detail was balanced right to the millimeter it truly was a work of art. Unfortunately, the count lied to Inigo’s father, and was willing to only pay 2 percent of his promised price. Outraged, domingo lashed out and started insulting the count and his ignorance, refusing to give him the sword. This sword is significant because, firstly, Inigo’s story began as a result of his father' death and if it weren’t for that, he would have never dedicated his life to fencing. He states, “I have spent all these years preparing to find the six-fingered man and kill him in a duel.”
This paved the pathway for Inigo’s future causing him to become the greatest fencer in the world, or a wizard as the story states all because he wanted revenge on his father's killer. This revenge gave him a purpose in life and when he failed to find the count, he ended up working for vizzini.
In other words, if the sword were not made then this would have kept Indigo from working with vizzini. Inigo would have become a swordsmaker like his father and lived a modest life.
Because he would not have been with Vizzini, Vizzini would not have been able to successfully kidnap Buttercup, since he required Inigo’s fencing skills to do so. All these pivotal events would have never happened, altering the events of the story and all of the character’s lives, all because the sword was never
