Competing is assertive and uncooperative -This is where the Project Lead defends a position which they believe is correct. Accommodating is unassertive and cooperative - the concerns of the other person is more important and in order to avoid long-term conflict, harmony is maintained within the group. Avoiding is unassertive and uncooperative - the Project Leader neither pursues their own concerns nor those of the other
party, postponing the issue until a better time. Collaborating is both assertive and cooperative – team members involved are willing to work together to find a solution that fully satisfies their concerns, hence learning from one another. Compromising is moderate in both assertiveness and cooperativeness. The objective is to find some convenient, mutually acceptable solution that partially satisfies both parties and develop good negotiating skill to achieve a satisfactory result.
