The Thomas Kilman Model
The different types of conflicts that may arise within the team can be managed by using the Thomas Kilman Model which is designed to measure a person's behaviour in conflict situations, has two basic dimensions of behaviour (assertiveness and cooperativeness) identify five different modes for responding to conflict situations:
Competing is assertive and uncooperative -This is where the Project Lead defends a position which they believe is correct. Accommodating is unassertive and cooperative - the concerns of the other person is more important and in order to avoid long-term conflict, harmony is maintained within the group. Avoiding is unassertive and uncooperative - the Project Leader neither pursues their own concerns nor those of the other
