In Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare expresses that love can make you go against everything you have ever believed in. For example, in act one scene five lines 136-139 Juliet states, “My only love, sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late! Prodigious birth of love it is to me That I must love a loathed enemy.” In other words, Juliet is expressing how devastated she is by the fact that Romeo is a Montague, but she does not deny what she feels towards him.
