Themes Of Traveling To Vancouver
I believe that this video uses pathos to persuade the audience to travel to Vancouver by using positive themes to exhibit the city. The video uses clips of a cute puppy and a cat (Named “Toby” and “Sky”) traveling around the city and being involved in activities that are popular in the city. The video uses happy and calming music in the background which leads the viewers into a sense of tranquility surrounding the video. These aspects of the advertisement are both for the purpose of creating an emotional response from the audience because they both use positive themes that draws in the audience and is then associated with the city. Humans have an innately positive response to seeing small, cute and furry animals. Therefore, when people see the cute, fury, and small cat and dog in the video we automatically associate the positive reaction not only with the animals themselves, but also the subject of the advertisement, which in this case is Vancouver. …show more content…

The producers of this commercial knew its target audience and went after it. It had a strong attention getter. Right from the beginning this commercial had my attention and maintained it throughout the entirety of the advertisement. It had strong appeals to pathos, ethos, and logos. This commercial worked for me, but for others I can see how this commercial came up short in getting their attention. For example, my views towards the music choice, the girl, and scenery corresponded well with what I wanted to see, but if you asked my mother about the commercial I’m sure there would be a completely different reaction to the commercial. In fact when I was watching the commercial in class in preparation for writing this analysis the girl who sits behind me watched the commercial over my shoulder and said that she thought the commercial was “ stupid”. It wasn’t until this moment that I realized the importance of pathos, ethos, and logos and how different each person’s appeals truly…

A pathos appeal is clearly being used in this commercial. It starts with a family being concerned about the broken truck and ends with the father doing whatever it takes to repair it. There are emotional pulls when they show the father finding a picture of his father and him as a little boy standing in front…

Not only is Pathos used in this commercial, but also Ethos is used generously. Ethos is another rhetorical appeal that is used to appeal to the audience by creating credibility. Pretty much everything that is said in this video is a rhetorical appeal. The “Mom song” says, “Old Spice sprayed a man of my son,…

The ad starts out by creating a serious mood by using a gray, cloudy, and cold scenery. The lights in the bar are dimmed. There is rain and snow in the commercial which are known to set thoughtful, dour, and sometimes sad moods. The commercial used these details to have the audience want to keep watching to see what happens next, therefor it keeps them from skipping the ad. In the article of Making Sense of Ads stated that advertising researchers devote large sums to testing consumers’ responses…

One of the most effective persuasion techniques is Pathos. Per Rosenau, M. (2012), advertisements that are “Pulling on the heart strings”, are using a Pathos appeal. Pet owners are, arguably, influenced most by the emotional appeal of love between themselves and their pets. For pet owners, the safety and care of their pets, which in turn evokes love from the pet, is an effective motivator. The Kal Kan “18 year-old-grandpa” ad targets loving pet owners, using nostalgia, storytelling, and music to make an emotional appeal.…

The most propagandistic part of the commercial I think would be the song, Angel by Sarah McLachlan. ASPCA used this song because it seems like it is directed towards you. Additionally the song plays with your emotions causing you to feel sad for these abused animals. Making you want to donate or rescue an animal. In the song she sings “In the arms of the angel, fly away from here.” The lyrics make you think you could be an angel to save the animal from any harmful situations it was once fighting. It also making you think you could comfort a hurt or an abused animal yourself and make that animal happy and healthy again.…

Throughout the entire commercial Ford shows all these different scenarios where children, parents, and even cats are in situations they cannot get out of. By choosing those certain people and animals, it appealed to America’s emotions. As well as to those single parents locked out of their house or the little boy who wrecked his tricycle calling for his moms help. They use children and pets to their advantage, due to the fact that people will always find pets and children adorable and cute. Especially with humor added to it, as well as sympathy because it may seem painful and stressful.…

The commercial, “Lion,” opens with a mom, a dad, and their new baby girl in their living room. Their pet dog approaches the newest family member, causing the baby to cry. To calm her down and make her smile, the mom gives her a stuffed lion. The golden retriever walks away sadly and watches the now joyful family from afar. The father sees that the dog is sad and uses his Amazon Prime account to order a lion’s mane for the dog in hopes that his dog and his daughter can become friends. Two days later, the dog…

As a student I find myself seated in front of a computer screen for long hours at a time; likewise, it is my obligation as a student to use technology as a resource to further my comprehension in my degree. In my opinion a good excuse to be seated in front of a computer for long hours. It is easy to say that I find a lot of inspiration form online sources, blogs, and social media – which I do – however, I feel most inspired when I step away from the computer screen. I find inspiration in the ordinary; I love to travel and see new things, in this case this is where I found my inspiration. Along my travels to Whistler Mountain in previous winters I saw a portion of land that was clear-cut, but one tree stood alone covered in snow. This piece…

If you have ever been bullied, you know where I am coming from when I say that it is something that no one should ever go through. Unfortunately, I have gone through it before and I am glad to have fought through it. I can clearly remember the time when I used to get bullied. My family and I had just moved to Canada a few months ago and I wasn't able to speak English very well at the time. I was so excited to learn everything there was to know about Canada, especially now that I knew that everyone didn’t live in igloos. Before coming to Canada I was told by a friend in India that everyone lived in igloos, of course being six at the time I believed her without questioning it. I was also very excited to see snow for the first time because,…

This Friday my family decided to go on a two week road trip to Canada with various stopovers in between, while I’m stuck at home alone because of school. At first my parents wanted me to go with them, but I had to decline because missing two weeks’ worth of school is basically saying you want to fail the semester. I am kind of bummed that I couldn’t make it to the trip but, I’m also kind of excited to be home alone for two weeks. This is by far the longest I would be left alone and having to ration my money for the two weeks. It’s good practice for college once I transfer out and head off to a dorm or rent an apartment. So far the only thing different I’ve noticed about my solitary life compared to life with my family is that I have a lot…
