Throughout the entire commercial Ford shows all these different scenarios where children, parents, and even cats are in situations they cannot get out of. By choosing those certain people and animals, it appealed to America’s emotions. As well as to those single parents locked out of their house or the little boy who wrecked his tricycle calling for his moms help. They use children and pets to their advantage, due to the fact that people will always find pets and children adorable and cute. Especially with humor added to it, as well as sympathy because it may seem painful and stressful. It is only natural that as the american public, people will get stuck in a rough situation. With Ford showing frustration, comedy, and pulling the strings of societies heart. It allows everyone to be engaged in the commercial because society …show more content…
easily relates.
The commercial taps into peoples inner heart with sympathy and heartfelt situations. Now with all that being used, they are able to capture peoples attention and advertise their product. When showing the car stuck in the blizzard being dragged out by a Ford-F150 shows
that in those situations, Ford is reliable and people can trust in their product.
This is easily communicated because once the audience is already intrigued by the joyous music, and eye catching scenery the narrator begins advertising that, Ford is starting a new and innovative process with their vehicles. What they are saying is, trust the company with the new ideas to become more mobile. An underlining topic they are getting across is adding more mobility to the company. The Ford F150 for example shows how the truck can get through a ferocious blizzard and how their vehicle can handle those circumstances. Not only that it shows a sedan making its way through traffic with ease. Therefore the commercial is not boring by capturing the audience’s attention
soon.
Therefore, with the commercial capturing peoples attention soon with multiple scenarios in all different ways the majority of america could relate in some way. It did not target any specific person or thing. Instead they target people that have experienced life. Towards the end of the commercial the narrator says “No one likes being stuck, that is why Ford is there to help society move through life, faster, easier, and better” (Super Bowl Commercials, 2017). Meaning everyone gets stuck in life and Ford is there to do all they can to make it easier.
As a result of Fords tremendous use of pathos, and the ability to capture peoples attention they made an extremely effective commercial. Not only did they use all they could to their advantage, they attached a song to affect the mood. With paying close attention the audience would be able to catch it and makes the commercial that much more humorous and effective. As an example the song says “ I wish I could break all the chains holding me” (Superbowl Commercials, 2017) and as this plays in the background there is a little girl hanging for dear life from a chain link fence. Of course, the connection has to be made, but there is multiple instances
of the song correlating fittingly with what is happening in the commercial. Whether it was animals, children or how they showed little clips of how the Ford vehicles are becoming more mobile, this commercial was everything it needed to be for Ford to get their point across.
