The final key feature is Freud’s view of the psychosexual stages of development. He says humans pass through a series of discrete psychosexual stages of development. These stages are the oral stage, the anal stage, the phallic stage, the latency stage and the genital stage. At each of these stages, pleasure is focussed on a particular part of the body. Too much or too little of any stage can result in fixation and lead to various psychological…

Many conversations have formed and developed from the topic of sexuality by many different types of individuals. The truth being ones sexuality is not truly developed until that individual is completely mature. This means we never truly find complete satisfaction within our sexuality. There are many experiences in life that can alter ones sexual development and behavior such as upbringing, religion, or ones culture. In this paper I will discuss three scenarios, all of them experiencing their own unique phase of life dealing with different stages of sexuality. I am pretending to be a therapist, and I am listing to each or the patient’s perspectives and stories. Hopefully by doing so I will be able to come up with a conclusion to why they are faced with what they are facing. I also would like to help each individual form a healthy wise decision, as well as ways to overcome the obstacle that are currently presented in their lives by expressing their sexuality. Each problem every individual in every situation is dealing with a sexual problem that is why discussing their sexuality will help me in aiding their problems.…
In principle, psychopathology is the scientific study of mental disorders and their origin; in addition, this field of study examines the causes, development, and possible treatment for the disorders. Essentially, psychopathology encompasses three aspects that are considered as directly related to the mental disorders. These facets include the biological considerations, social issues, and psychological aspects of any mental condition. In fact, the initial perception of mental illness was associated with religious issues such as possession by demons and evil spirits. However, famous ancient physicians like Hippocrates and Plato would disrepute this perception gradually transforming the view of mental disorders and its causes (Gutting 2008). In this regard, the research into the causes of mental disorders would shift focus from the religious beliefs to a more scientific approach. In respect to modern day research on mental disorders, this essay attempts to investigate the perception and causes of psycho – pathology.…

Deception when used as a means for sex is achieved by getting one person's consent predicated on false beliefs that have been intentionally used. This interaction involves one person using the other. Deception can be achieved by giving the other person false information, but the simple act of withholding information can also be deception. A more vicious way to achieve sex is through coercion. Using coercion as a means either uses force or undermines the voluntariness of consent through threats. The first type is occurrent coercion where the victims consent is entirely bypassed by physical force. The second is dispositional coercion where the rapist gets consent by employing the threat serious bodily harm.…

The Psychodynamic Approach (Originator: Sigmund Freud 1856 – 1939) focuses on an individual’s unconscious thoughts that stem from childhood experiences and now affect their current behaviour and thoughts. The urges that drive us emanate from our unconscious and we are driven by them to repeat patterns of behaviour. Therapy includes free association, the analysis of resistance and transference, dream analysis and interpretation and is usually long term. The aim is to make the unconscious conscious in order for the client to gain insight.…
Our text book discusses four elements that link to a person’s sexual behavior. The four elements are fantasy, symbolism, ritualism and compulsion. The first element discussed in our text book is fantasy. The textbook says that “It is impossible to be sexual without some form of fantasy” (Holmes & Holmes, 2009). When a person gets to live out their sexual fantasies that is what makes the sexual act more intense. In order to have a sexual fantasy, one must be sexual. A person must have a fantasy in order to be sexually involved with another person or even with themselves. When a person has a sexual fantasy, it seems to enhance the intercourse. There are many types of fantasies that range from what one would call normal all the way up to what some might call completely bizarre. Unfortunetly, a lot of people watch “porn” in order to fulfill a fantasy. They fantasize while watching the movie or clip that it is a girlfriend, boyfriend, or even someone that they wish they could have. By fantasizing while watching, they are “pleasuring themselves”.…
The correlation between sexual compulsive behavior and the use of methamphetamine amongst gay men will be addressed in a psychoeducational group therapy setting. Because of unique cultural issues in the gay community, this behavior known as sexual sensation seeking remains physically, emotionally, and psychologically damaging to the individual and the community. By modeling our group after other empirically tested therapy groups, individuals will be guided in a closed, peer group setting led by empathetic co-facilitators who utilize existential and cognitive behavioral techniques. The personal involvement in group will afford an outlet to provide feedback, to modify irrational thinking that may lead to self-defeating behaviors. The goal from…
