I believe in horses, I step my left foot into the stirrup and swing my body over my six foot three tall horse’s back. I believe in my horse because he’s the one I can tell a secret to and know it won’t be spread. Many lessons can be learned from a horse and I have learned a few. Being competitive, confident, and responsible are just a few.

I was squatting down in his stall cleaning off his hooves with a damp wash cloth. After I finished, I stood up and he stepped forward on my foot. Getting stepped on doesn’t hurt too bad after being around horses my whole life, so I tried to simply push his hip over so he steps off. Losing my balance, I fell to the ground, which scared Star. He jumped up and his back foot came plunging down on my hip. Seconds later he hopped off my hip and stood on the side of his stall shaking in fear.
The pain was awful. For a minute I just laid on the ground hoping I did not break my hip, I didn’t want to look because I knew it would only make it worse. Eventually I got up and limped my way out of his stall to sit in a lawn chair. My friend, Renee, got me a bag of ice. Placing the ice pack on my hip made me look down. Of course, it only made it worse. The mark was bright red and skin ripped all around. I had a horse shoe kind of mark and inside the big mess of an accident was a huge bright purple and blue bruise.
