Introduction
I. Good afternoon my enthusiastic teacher and motivated class mates. A. I am so delighted to be here today II. I know that everyone here has at one time or the other thought about wedding. So it’s either you are married, hope to get married someday, or have attended a wedding. Right? III. As I was putting the speech together in the library, I was so full of smiles this is because my mind went back to when I got married and all the good thing that happen going through the process of the wedding.
A. I got married in Nigeria five years ago according to the southwestern tradition which is predominated by the Yoruba. One of the majority ethnic groups In Nigeria IV. Thus I will be talking to u about the process of the Yoruba traditional wedding. A. m sure you all are wondering who are the Yoruba’s i. According to travel.nationalgeographic.com,Nigeria has more than 130million people with about 250 ethnic groups of which the Yoruba’s are 21 percent ii. They also occupy the south west of Nigeria iii. One thing these groups of people are known for is partying. Yoruba’s love to party. Not just party but elaborate parties. iv. As a matter of fact one of the indications of a successful party is the number of people that attended the party. V. It is pretty interesting to witness their weddings and so today I am going to talk about the
Introduction, engagement, and the white weddings as the three main stages of the Yoruba wedding.
