As a student time management is essential to keep a healthy equilibrium. All forms of time management begin with planning an adequate schedule. Moreover, the general argument made by author Sandra Jennings in her piece “Time management” indicates the rough shift for High school students transitioning to becoming freshman’s in college. More specifically, the balance between needs, desire and obligations. She writes “…importance of responsibility and the consequences for actions….”. In high schools today, most seniors are piled down with work and fatigued from after school activities and jobs. On average, most students spend 7-8 hours in school and most have after school jobs which they work for at least 6 hours. Most teachers and parents would say it’s because they’re in preparation for college and adult life. High school seniors are tensed and stressed because they are trying their best to succeed and make something out of themselves. But how can they do that if they have such busy schedule?…
Americans today tend to believe that college is four years of partying and fun while earning a degree, and there is validity in that belief, but one must also include the four years of learning and hard work. One benefit of college is all of the fun activities that there are to take part in. These activities that college students take part in give the students two important things in life: stress management abilities and connections. Students work hard all week and then finally get the chance to relax and do something they enjoy on the weekends. That “down time” is spent relaxing, and trying to figure out a non-stressful way to complete all homework and projects and still go out for fun. The stress management relates to time management, as students want to do work in a logical time frame that keeps life easy. These two skills relate to life after college because once someone has a job they have to manage the stress of the job and complete tasks in a timely manner. On May 16, 2011, Paul Taylor and his research team from Pew Social…

Time management is one of the top reasons that made me continue to put going back to school off for a couple of years. No matter how many times I talked myself into it, I just couldn't see myself taking time away from my children and husband to spend in a classroom. However, by setting a schedule for certain things I am still able to enjoy the time with my family. “Balanced with the stress of the added responsibilities, students have reported spending time with their families as the biggest stress reducer” (Canales-Gonzales & Kranz, 2008).…

When I was a freshman, I never expected I would be so stressed out as a junior. As a freshman, a sophomore, and a junior, my body and my mind continued to exert stress. My parents, like other parents, tend to forget that students today, deal with more stress than they did as students. The competition of getting into college, the stress of schoolwork, and the responsibility of managing their time when playing sports can overwhelm me as a high school student.…

I have been in and out of college for the past 10-12 years and in that time I have made many mistakes and learned from them. Maturity has also played a large role in my failures and successes in college. Time management has been one of the toughest challenges I have faced while taking college classes. Being an active duty United States Marine, I find myself working 15 hours days, traveling and spending the majority of my time away from home. With that being said, I have had to learn how to manage my time and prioritize tasks and events in my life. Finishing my degree is very important to me and as I matured over the years I have had to evaluate my priorities and make sacrifices in order to achieve my personal goals. Now that I am further along in my degree program I am finding that the classes are getting more challenging and require more out of me. This also means that I have to spend more time teaching myself and adapting to the requirements of the class. Juggling all of this along with my job and trying to spend quality time with my family is hard. When I get stressed out or overwhelmed I like to refer to a quote I heard a long time ago, “It’s supposed to be hard. If it were easy everyone would do it.” (Tom Hanks) in A league of their own [Motion picture]. United States: Columbia…
