need to experience. Students need to learn feedback from failure and how to improve. When looked at correctly, failure can teach students where they went wrong, and how they can pick themselves up again in a pursuit to succeed. Students who never experienced failure will not be able to recover from it, they will never try again because they will have the fear of not succeeding. Failure can offer students great learning lessons that can lead them to success.
From a personal experience when I was a high school student I was dealt with failure when I was in the 9th grade. It was during my geometry course that I had a hard time completing. My teacher had told me I was close to failing the class halfway through the semester. So I decided to take initiative and put in as much work as possible to not fail the class. In the end my failure was prevented because I was able to pass the class with a C. Failure taught me to never give up because in the end you will find a way to succeed. Like in the article both Solomon Williams and Colemann Finch were faced with failure, but both were able to learn from their failure and found a way to become successful from it.
In conclusion students should not fear of failure. Scott Carlson’s article shows exactly how beneficial failure can be. With the examples of Solomon Williams and Colemann Finch both were able to accept failure and resolved it in success. Failure from a personal experience taught me how to never give up and opened my eyes to the possibilities of success. It’s time for today’s student to let go of this safety net.
