This trip was particularly adventurous! As we pulled up, we noticed that there were fire trucks outside of the day care, as we walked up to the huddles of teachers and children on the sidewalk, they told us that there had been a problem with the stove and that they had been able to smell gas. I would like to point out that I am not entirely sure how this might connect to class, but it seemed like an important event during which I made some observations that might relate to lecture in the coming weeks.
Nothing worth noting happened in the toddler room, but I did notice some interesting occurrences in the infant room. Jing and I both tried to give Phoebe a large object, in my case this large object was a big soft book! Phoebe looked at the book and after hesitating a while she successfully grabbed it. Instead of just picking it up any which way, she by the binding, an area of the book that is thinner, and therefore easier to handle. This was a moment of accommodation. Phoebe had understood that picking up this large book was not the same as picking up a tiny toy car because the two objects have different properties.
