Once free from capture, a survival tutorial begins requiring you to search for a bow and hunt to gather food as the rain lashes down while the sound of thunder blasts through the speakers. All the atmospherics throughout the game are utterly stunning, with Lara reacting seamlessly to her surroundings. Little touches such as interacting with walls and trees as she runs past them give the game a tremendous sense of realism. It feels as though this universe is alive and could possibly throw anything at you with each step you take.

There are tombs to explore, with puzzles and challenges that you need to figure out to acquire their treasures. The AI is intelligent, and enough to give you a decent challenge throughout all difficulty levels. Since you can easily unload your weapons, it’s handy to be able to retrieve arrows from your victims, though this is a skill you can unlock early in the game. Though the main draw of Tomb Raider is in the single-player campaign, there is a multiplayer mode to get involved with. Online options can be fun, but they are unspectacular and won’t hold your attention for long. This is the only downfall of the game, but it’s not enough to ruin the overall experience that Tomb Raider serves
