Communication Process

Describe each step using your own personal or business example in paragraph form.

Steps of Communication Model
Personal or Business Scenario
1. Sender has an idea.
I need to create an SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) manual for the dispatcher job description. This will help when training a new hire or if someone in another department would like to learn how to dispatch.
2. Sender encodes the idea in a message.
After putting some thought into the process, I will create a step by step process describing in detail the job description from beginning to end.
3. Sender produces the message in a medium.
Set up a power point presentation on the computer to display all the necessary steps.
4. Sender transmits message through a channel.
Sit down with each individual and explain each step for the job description.
5. Audience receives the message.
Make sure all personnel take notes on each step and have them write down any questions.
6. Audience decodes the message.
Have the personnel show what they learned by demonstrating the steps individual.
7. Audience responds to the message.
The personnel will add their own touches to the SOP manual so it will fit their needs.
8. Audience provides feedback to the sender.
The personnel will write down all they learned and provide questions as feedback.
