my professional knowledge and experience to assist teaching at Cal Poly Pomona in a Hotel Ownership Class, for graduate students in the Collins College of Hospitality. Collins College is a well known Graduate Program for Hospitality and attracts students from all over the world. A majority of the students that I was assisting during this course, were international students from Asia. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the graduate students and realized that helping people reach their true potential, was my calling.
There are many schools in Southern California that offer Teacher Credential Programs, but at the forefront of all my research was Concordia University.
I interviewed Concordia Alumni and current teachers in the area, and my questions were only answered with praise and recommendations for the program. After attending a TCP Information Night at Concordia I had officially decided to apply to the program. The faculty made me feel welcome and that I would not just be part of a program, I would be part of a legacy of wonderful teachers. But, the decision to apply was not only for the comfort of feeling at home on campus, but also because of Concordia’s reputation for preparing qualified teachers, as well as its proximity to schools with diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, and academic standings. I have an interest in working with schools with diversity and catering to the learning process’ and needs of children from various
backgrounds.
My goal is to first achieve my teaching credential in multiple subjects. After receiving my preliminary credential I plan on looking for a job in a school district to complete my induction. Concurrently with working in a district I would like to work on completing my Masters in Education. After receiving my Masters and working in the classroom for many years I would ultimately like to pursue a career in Administration. I believe that with my business background and my teaching experience, I would be able to positively effect the education system. Concordia is renown for not only producing outstanding teachers but the University has experienced faculty and alumni that can lend guidance and mentorship in this challenging field. The education system is constantly evolving and Concordia is in a superior position to provide a credentialing and masters program to fit the needs of the diverse situation.
