Transition To Education Research Paper
I am excited to start my career transition to education. I had previously been working professionally in business, but feel a call to work with children and believe teaching is the best way to fulfill my passion and purpose. Volunteering for youth causes has always been a passion of mine, but I had always viewed that passion as a separate entity to my professional career. After four years of working in corporate environments and not feeling that I am making a positive impact on the world, I have decided to answer my calling and make my passion a career. Everyone’s journey is different and my decision to make the transition to education, was not a whimsical resolution. I believe that education is the key to making the world a better place. I want to be able to inspire and effect the lives of students, the way my life was affected by my teachers.

I interviewed Concordia Alumni and current teachers in the area, and my questions were only answered with praise and recommendations for the program. After attending a TCP Information Night at Concordia I had officially decided to apply to the program. The faculty made me feel welcome and that I would not just be part of a program, I would be part of a legacy of wonderful teachers. But, the decision to apply was not only for the comfort of feeling at home on campus, but also because of Concordia’s reputation for preparing qualified teachers, as well as its proximity to schools with diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, and academic standings. I have an interest in working with schools with diversity and catering to the learning process’ and needs of children from various

Pursuing something new is fun and exciting, especially if the pursuit positively impacts someone else. I am grateful for the opportunity to re-enter grad school, this time at the doctorate level, to realize a dream that I’ve had since the beginning of my teaching career. My goal is to be sharp, skilled, creative and effective as a teacher and leader so that I can significantly influence the organization and overall culture of my school, other teachers, students, and the community. A necessary attribute of a great teacher should be the desire to seek ways to improve learning for all children. I am committed to learning and developing the knowledge and skills that a great leader needs to make a difference in education. I believe all students can have academic success.…

I use to think that being a teacher was going to be a short eight hours of teaching and being with children. Having summers off made being a teacher seem a lot more beneficial to. Being a teacher seemed to be the easiest career choice out there for me. After viewing the second grade classroom in Shepherdstown Elementary it is safe to say that I have changed my opinion of teaching. There is unquestionably another side to the world of a teacher that can only be seen inside a classroom. Watching the students made me realize that being a teacher will no doubt carry some difficulties but, it will all pay off in the end. Observing has made me realize that there is more to teaching, the classroom, and what goes on inside.…

Since I was initially a nursing student when I entered college, I had never considered becoming a teacher. Ever since I can remember, I have always wanted a career where I could serve others, and I always believed that being a nurse would allow me to achieve this goal. Still, I fell in love with the education field the moment I started volunteering and aiding in my aunt's classrooms, which they taught grades TK– 4. I immediately changed my major because it makes me feel extremely fortunate to think that one day I would be able to teach, laugh, and help my kids in the same manner that my aunts do. To begin with, I worked as a student intern, as a tutor for the Advancement Via Individual Determination program for four years.…

I applied to be a Link Crew member, which is a class where juniors and seniors help freshmen with their high school transition. What caused my failure is that when I was writing my essay and when I did my interview, I focused on my high school transition rather than what would I do to make freshmen's high school transition easier. Instead of telling my teachers what I would do to make freshmen feel more comfortable, to get involved, and how to keep them updated, I told my teachers about how I felt during my high school transition and that I did not want freshmen to feel the same way. This experience relates to the way I imagine myself in college because I feel that I will always be focusing on myself, on what do I have to do to keep good grades…

However, an occupation does not describe everything about me or the path I have taken to get me to where I am today. I wish to teach for a few years in different schools in the New York City Educational System. I also wish to compare the different types of Bilingual Education Programs in New York City and decide the type of program I want to be a part of. I believe that I can make a difference in the New York City Educational System by contributing to the instruction of newly arrivals. In two semesters, I will begin student teaching. I am overcome with emotions to start this new phase in my life because everything that I have is due to never giving up. I was doing a project on Winston Churchill in my 10th grade social studies class when I came across one of his most famous quotes, “When you are going through hell, keep on going. Never, never, never, give up.” Since the age of sixteen, I have always worked. I am grateful to have started working at a young age because it has taught me several valuable lessons. I learned how to manage my time and how to be responsible. Having to work at a young age also allowed for me to be able to balance a job and still do well in school. Not to mention the experience that I gained as a tutor, mentor and counselor. As a junior at CCNY, I am enrolled as a full-time student and work as a customer service representative for an airport service…
