USC Strengths And Weaknesses
Third, although USC has few weaknesses, as I presented in above paragraphs, some of the weaknesses are fixed or improved actively by the USC. According to USC website and what Steven said, the department of public safety, as a police station, has 306 full-time personnel and 30 part-time student workers. Those people would work for 24 hours and keep a watchful eyes on the screens that show the conditions around the campus. Beside that, the department of public safety also promoted many policies or programs that help to prevent crime happening inside and outside of the campus. For instance, the USC trojan mobile safety app, called "livesafe", is controlled by the department of public safety of USC. This app allows users to initiate contact with emergenct responders in …show more content…

Not only the police station, the USC threat management team also gives advice and counsel to the USC for dealing with the disruptive, disturbing or threatening behaviors. This team is composed of different members from USC institutions, such as the department of Public safety, Student affairs, the office of equity and diversity, human resources and mental health professionals. Beside preventing the crime, USC is also active to prevent raical discrimination inside the campus. For instance, the department of equity and diversity inside of the USC is responsible to prevent raical discrimination and sexual harassment. If students are discriminated or harassed by someone, they can report it to the department and have an interview with the staffs for further investigation. Like the department of equity and diversity of USC, the alumni association also encourages the integration and prevent discrimination in campus as it constantly makes many events and activities for students. Through participating in those activities, you can make friend with many people and easily integrate into the social circles of USC, according to what steven

Football is a game of force and power, and the answer to problems on the field often is "Hit him harder" or “run faster.” Success is based on dominating the offensive and defensive lines and, if possible, not turning the ball over during the game. The U.S. Justice Department is looking into the BCS system. The DOJ wonders if it violates antitrust laws. It wonders why, when every other college sport has a playoff system, major college football does not.…

Bob Stoops and the Oklahoma Sooners were on life support. After a disappointing 8-5 season, capped off with an embarrassing loss to Clemson, Bob Stoops was starting to feel the heat. So Stoops went out and made the best move of his career. He hired Lincoln Riley from ECU, and he gave the keys to his new offense to Baker Mayfield, the former walk on from Texas Tech. In the essay “The Shame of College Sports” Taylor Branch explains a large amount of corruption inside college sports and makes a case that colleges do not properly represent their student athletes and they should be paid.(Branch 227) One of the statements from UNC trustee Dan Curtis states “I think we should pay these guys something” sets up Branch to one of his first major statements in which he says “Fans and educators alike recoil from this proposal as though from original sin. Amateurism is the whole point, they say. Paid athletes would destroy the integrity and appeal of college sports.” (227) In this move he confronts what the vast majority of people believe and later goes on to further his view of the topic with an analogy of college…

During the spring of 2007 on the Virginia Polytech Institute campus, a student named Seung-Hui Cho had shot 2 students in a resident hall before entering classrooms and shooting 32 other students and professors (Glum). This event had created a call for necessities in protecting not only the Virginia Tech school but all large campuses in America. Director of Virginia’s 32 National Campus Safety Initiative S. Daniel Carter stated, “That one incident sort of crystallized campus safety in people’s minds as a very, very serious issue.” (Glum). The school itself had warning signs before the incident that also brought into questions how the situation could’ve been different and how potentional threats need be…

On November 7, 2015 the Missouri University football team announced they were going on strike until the president of the university stepped down. Two days later on November 9, 2015 the president, Timothy M. Wolfe, and chancellor, R. Bowen Loftin, of the University of Missouri both resigned from their positions. The strike of the football team and resignation of both university leaders were a result of the same issues. These issues involved multiple racist, sexiest, and homophobic incidents that were reported to Tim Wolfe, the president of the university system since 2012, resulting in no action at all and was reported to actually intentionally avoid the problems. Although these tensions have been growing since August, just recently national…

Recruitment of AAW and members of the diverse groups has been one of the major concerns and still a priority of law enforcement. They have not only been underrepresented but entirely been discriminated and programs initiated that barricades the AAW from advancing in the system. Both the government and society has contributed to this problem while the culture long created by men concerning the place of women in law enforcement positions being a difficult barrier to break. Racism and bias at persona level is counted among the many reasons as to why AAW representation in law enforcement has…

It would not be much of a stretch to say that being a Mizzou Tiger runs in my blood. I grew up getting plenty of exposure to Mizzou from my grandmother, a diehard Tigers fan that attends almost every home basketball game, my mother, who is herself a Mizzou alumnus, as well as my older cousins who both graduated from Mizzou, giving the University a constant presence in my life. Then, as I reached high school I received additional exposure to the University as a result of it hosting the state tournaments for Speech and Debate, Science Olympiad, and basketball throughout my four years, however I truly fell in love with Mizzou when I came to visit for a Scholar’s Day event the summer before my senior year. Seeing the campus in the heart of summer,…

    2. During the initial stage of this crisis, the university administration did not seek to prevent or lessen the negative outcomes of a crisis and thereby protect the organization, stakeholders, and industry from harm. It was a big mistake for the university administration’ failure to realize the problem within the student’s residences during the first two shootings. Through their intercom system they should have instructed students, faculty and staff to stay inside their rooms until an investigation was completed. Unfortunately, that was not the case and many students unaware of what was taking place…

Public safety is normally defined as different organizations that would include: emergency management agencies, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, rescue squads, and emergency medical services (EMS). The public safety agency I will be speaking about today is the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS). “COPPS is an organization, wide policing philosophy and management approach that promotes community, government, police partnerships and proactive problem solving to reduce jurisdiction’s crime and social disorder” (Rainey, 2012). With this organization it requires clear focus, a strong willpower to carry through with the essential distribution of time and resources, and the constant support of nominated and chosen officials.…

Since middle school, I have been playing the game of football, and I’ve loved it ever since. Being a bigger kid, I always have played the offensive line and defensive line positions. These positions require the actions of blocking and tackling. I enjoyed blocking and tackling so playing the game was very fun for me. Throughout the years I have enjoyed working hard to make my performance better. Countless hours of practicing and lifting weights have been a big part of my life. This game requires a lot of dedication, which is why I love it. When I reached the college football level I received a huge awakening. The differences between the two levels helped me learn more about the game of football.…

To begin, I will state that public security and private security need each other to survive in their fields. Unfortunately, public security or state police officers, don’t usually have enough personnel nor can they be everywhere all over town. There just isn’t enough man power. Public safety gets paid by taxpayers to patrol their neighborhoods, schools, large banks, airports etc. They don’t have the time or people to just hang around certain neighborhoods all day and night or small businesses. This is where they benefit from public security and their unique responsibilities.…
