UTSA Road Runner Situation Analysis
Imagine leaving your SI session at the John Peace Library and walking into your freshman writing course a few minutes late only to find your peers in a panic. The world as you know it has come to an end. The dead walk among the living, surprisingly, your class has bound together to survive and thrive in this horrible situation. My role in the rowdy crew of UTSA Road Runners would be conflict mediator and group psychologist, I plan on easing the impending conflicts that will arise from the stress and overpopulation. With almost every decision being made possibly being the last tensions between classmates will be extremely high. There will be heated debates and constant dissension throughout the class. As conflict mediator I will ensure that all conflicting parties come to an acceptable agreement. It is my duty to minimize unnecessary altercations between survivors. Conflicts will be settled in private between the parties and the mediators. This will lessen the distraction caused by the bickering that is ensured by the stressful environment we will be in. Being mindful of your situation …show more content…
The medical branch can maintain our classes physical well being but that is in vain if we cannot handle the stresses and mental tribulations that will follow. The fears and anxiety of the post-apocalyptic world are unlike anything the students are likely to have been exposed to. The lingering fear of having lost your family in the accident will weigh on the survivors minds throughout their days. "Laughter therapy is effective and scientifically supported as a single or adjuvant therapy."(Tokyo 3) I believe this is the best therapeutic route because it will take the least time out of the students busy days, and it will be very agreeable with a majority of the students. Laughter therapy was not a common practice in the pre zombie world but it will be

My brothers and sisters! Listen well there are numerous approaches to battle racism: marching, protesting or rioting, complaining to the government. Presently some may say sports is the best weapon at shielding and regarded in the white man own diversion. That may function however you will not be as equivalent in the white man eyes only a Negro from the ghettos of Compton, Detroit or whatever lands. For Instance Nikolai Buglaj famous artwork "Race" ing Sideways, 1991 as a hidden message on how equality is an illusion. When looking at leadership from a trait approach, several solid characteristics exist. One of those characteristics is personality. Personality is important especially in the work place and can set the tone of the environment. For example, if a manager/leader has a positive attitude and approach to employees during a situation then the outcome will be positive. When employees are happy and working in positive atmosphere achievements and goals are accomplished. An additional strength of the trait approach is that the approach provides a deep understanding of what makes an individual successful as a leader. This will help future theorists because he or she will have a list of traits that predict leadership.…

Another strategy used inside the ER is humor. To lighten the mood doctors, nurses, and residents often use this technique. Although most people would not find anything humorous in an emergency, within the walls of the hospital it is a way of coping with life and death on a day-to-day basis. Both of these strategies help routinize chaos in hospitals and achieve the main goal of saving the patient.…

During my four years of high school, I had participated in the peer mediation program, health services, and leadership, all of which have helped me to become the dedicated and hardworking student that I am today. As a peer mediator at my high school, I had the privilege of assisting students who were troubled and needed help to resolve conflicts among themselves. My experiences as a peer mediator has taught me that conflict is inevitable thus, the way that we handle our situations will affect the outcome of the situation in a negative or positive way. The most rewarding experience of this program has helped me to have an open mind and understand from different perspectives. Thus, during those two years of being a mediator for two years I also helped students learn about conflict resolution and controlling anger. Most adolescents in high school are clueless when it comes to handling their own emotions and sometimes end up in fights during school so it is our job to prevent that from occurring. Our team of mediators encouraged students to broaden their outlook on how they look at something through a different perspective during each of our mediations. With the guidance of our counselor watching from the side, most of our mediations are successful because we try to help both parties to understand each other from both point of views. In conclusion, students rarely ever come into conflict ever again.…

After coming back from the camp I have continued to use my voice and speak my opinion. Being confident has led me to be distinguished from my fellow peers at the University of Delaware. I was given the opportunity to be a teachers’ assistant for a 300 level nutrition counseling course. My duties were hands-on and included leading an inter-disciplinary approach to education with the nutrition and theatre departments. Theatre students were trained to act as patients and nutrition students had the opportunity to practice their assessment, counseling and communication skills. I was in charge of making sure the sessions ran smoothly and addressed any questions or concerns students had. With my commitment and interpersonal skills I was a Women of Promise Recipient and I received a junior…

EssayA significant part of the MMS experience is honing your ability to work effectively with a diverse team while learning how to hold leadership roles both in and out of the classroom. In a professional, volunteer, or academic setting, describe how you overcame a challenging situation within a team. What role did you play? What was the result? What did you learn about yourself? “There are a hundred people crowding around my booth and the projector just malfunctioned!” – Rajshri Iyer cried over the cellphone clutched in my sweaty hand. The panic in her voice travelled the distance that separated us much faster than the message she wanted to convey. Rajshri was competent and reliable and if she was losing her nerve, I knew I had trouble on my hands. My mind flashed back to a time three months back, when I had been meticulously planning a proposal to conduct a drive across Mumbai to stop people from crossing railway tracks and to make travel in the city safe. An early childhood memory of a woman’s sari dyed in red as she lay dead across the railway tracks after having been run over by a train had constantly kept me motivated to squeeze every spare moment of my time beyond my work commitments into drafting an action plan for the campaign I had wished to conduct on Impact Day, Deloitte’s annual community service day. Little had I known then that being passionate about a cause is not the only thing required to make a difference. Over the next few months, as I prepared for the activity, I had to learn to be a better team player, an adept negotiator, a patient peacemaker and an ardent motivator, while my team had to learn to resolve mutual differences, fight against apathy and work with synergy. As I reviewed the incidents that had shaped our experience of organizing this activity I was convinced that having come so far, we would not fail. “I believe this is amazing, but do they?” – This was a question which I had thought to be irrelevant while drafting a decisive action…

This paper will discuss three places of work and look a little into myself and the direction hoped to be taken. My three places of employment would be Child Protective Services, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and my local county center to help others. My goal is to help children, families, vets, and homeless get on their feet and be productive. I have been the last few years volunteering with my children’s school coordinating family events for learning and understanding so they can grow in school. I have also volunteered in Relay for life and Habitat for Humanity. These were fulfilling and fun ways to help get others on their feet the school had low learners and parents in some cases they either did not understand or know English this helped in their family growth. Raising money for a great cause and being a small part of what was going on was amazing. Building a home for someone in need of a roof over their families head is fulfilling helping that family get on their own feet. I am going to school for my Bachelors in Human Services.…
