Topic Sentence and Informal Outline Worksheet
Using the Center for Writing Excellence and MyFoundationsLab resources, provide the topic sentence and informal outline for your Personal Ethics Statement.
Topic sentence: I listen to the intuition to determine what character traits and virtures will best serve the community. *
Informal outline:
A. Equality of community and individual.
B. Sensibility over rationality.
A. My primary concern is the well-being of the community and I believe that assuring the community’s well-being is the best way to assure that individuals are treated fairly.
B. The best results are achieved by examining each situation in its own context rather than applying one size fits all solutions.
A. Getting information about what others in your role or a similar situation have done.
B. Considering what others have done in similar situations will be respected and will remain attentive to the unique needs of the community in this case.
A. Because I rely strongly on the virtues associated with various roles, I run the risk of developing unrealistic role expectations.
B. When you lack compassion for others you run the risk of believing that the perks and privileges of your role belong to you because you are better than others.
Although sometimes the way people can trick you into thinking there is something that they are not. If you do not know the real them how do you really know how to treat them fairly. Trying to find out more about the values that I have toward people for two main reasons: First my primary concern is the well-being of the whole community and I believe that assuming the community well-being is the best way to assure that individuals are treated fairly.
