In the book ‘Unwind Dystology’ by Neal Shusterman, Levi Calder goes on an adventure that implement changes in his perspective on life. From birth, he had been told he was a tithe. This meant that after the age of thirteen, he would be handed over to the government and they would amputate all of his body parts and would be given to people who need them. He was taught that he is blessed and gifted by God, and the reason he came into this world was to give to others. After the Second Civil War in America, this practice had been accepted by society. He is later taken hostage from a runaway AWOL named Connor, who tried saving him from his tithing. At first he resists, but when he goes on multiple adventures with Connor and later a girl named Risa, he realizes that he had been blessed to meet them. In ‘Unwind’, before Connor had to run away from his home because of the fear of having his life taken away, he was not street smart and wise. Connor’s emotions used to have control over him rather than him having control over his emotions Over time when he had to deal with many different hardships, he learned how to control himself and set boundaries. He seemed to move in and out of darkness and light all his life which built his strong and caring
