B. One of the biggest limitations for this report was the date that it was due, which was four days after we discussed the assignment in class. For the first two days I was stuck trying to come up with a topic, and then I was rushing to interview students and finally type up the report. I could only
ask a small amount of the student population because, I only had two days left to complete the assignment and I had other homework, plus three exams to worry about.
C. This assignment had many challenges, however, the most difficult task was when we were asked to think of a topic for the report. Out of all the other things required for this report, thinking of a current and interesting topic was the most time consuming part of it. I wanted to stick with students on campus, but I had no idea what they would consider important and relevant to their lives. On the other hand, the easiest part of this assignment was gathering the advice from students and then writing the article. After class one day I just strolled around campus and I stopped students at random asking whether they’re a sophomore or above and what advice or tips they’d share with freshmen about the midterm exams. The students were more than happy to answer my questions and offer their advice, since they had to go through the same thing as freshmen and wanted to help them.
D. I learned that being a journalist is a very demanding job, since it requires you to constantly be hunting for the most interesting stories that will appeal to a large audience. In the future, I don’t think I’ll continue submitting stories to newspapers or online articles as a citizen journalist. It was an interesting experience to see the trials a real journalist has to go through each day when coming up with ideas for the top stories, but I wouldn’t want to do this all the time.
