Violent Video Games Violate Vibes?
Violent Video Games Violate Vibes? Video games have recently become a controversial topic, in regards to understanding if violent video games can cause aggression and violent behavior. Hundreds of studies, as to violent video games, have been tested on children, bullies and even criminals to find out if there is a connection between violent video games and bad behavior. Although most people believe that violent video games do cause aggression in behavior, because of such events like murders, criminal acts and personal experience in the past history, I disagree that there is no connection between videogames and violence in a person's demeanor. Violent video games have been recently researched plenty of times because of criminal actions. …show more content…
The fact of this is that out of all the kids playing there violent video games, there's not going to be a fifty percentile of them causing murders or criminal act, ninety nine percent will not cause murder after playing a violent video game (Torr …show more content…
These real life simulation games encourage people to question things about life, and help players understand that there are many consequences, personally and socially. These games ultimately help mature players with a greater attitude towards the “real world”(Willis 105).
As a direct relationship of violent video games causing a violent behavior, research has not proven this direct link, and as Kansas State’s John Murray, a professor and child psychologist, states that there will never be proof because of how fast this industry is growing and changing (Willis 99)
The truth about this subject is that most gamers, around ninety nine percent of them are not violent and aggressive. Most of these gamers have the best times of their lives playing with their friends online until midnight, laughing and creating great memories. It would be hard to see these gamers become violent and have intent to become a danger in the community after experiencing pure happiness and positivity with friend online through a video game. Many would say it is a way to escape the real life and enter into a fantasy world (Willis

Dr Nicholas Carnagey is an Iowa State University professor of psychology and a research assistant. The paper discusses how violent video games affect a person 's behavior and if they manifest violence and show aggression in the real world after playing such video games. I learned that not all people who are exposed to video game or media violence turn violent. I think it depends on the person if he wants to get influenced from the game, to mimic what the game shows. This is just like the next source, discussing about what kind of behavioural problems violent gaming brings about.…

The video games phenomenon is somewhat new in this modern society. Although they often to be entertaining, the contents have become more violent and disturbing as computing technology has become much more advanced. These days, the popularity of violent video games has caused an increase in controversy. However, I strongly believe violent video games do not cause an increase in aggression in adolescents. In fact in many ways violent video games benefit the children that are playing them.…

A problem challenging the world today is the scientific linkage to video games and violence in today’s youth. As the mother of a pre-teen boy I chose to investigate the surrounding evidence to educate myself and my peers on this seemingly growing problem which I believe connects violent game play with youth aggression. I hope to learn whether or not the games put out on today’s market need to be removed from the shelves and furthermore, I would like to know if they are teaching the children the wrong things and corrupting their minds at early ages.…

After reading the yes side of do video games lead to violence, I’m going to have to say I disagree with them. Because if that was the case then every little kid that played a violent game would try and do what happen in the video game but they don’t. Yes, they might get more aggressive but that don’t mean it’s because of the video game. A lot of violence comes from how the kid was raise and what he or she has seen from their elders. In the research that was provide the highest time of risk to gain violence for kids was between ages 9-12 and 15-18. But this is not just them using research by video game they been using television and movies. In some ways I can see where video games can raise aggressive. But they just didn’t use that to figure out if it was just the video games causing it to rise, it could of raise because of the movie or television that he or she watched. So there for their research is incorrect for the question that they are asking.…

“If video games do increase violent tendencies outside the laboratory, the explosion of gaming over the past decade from 3.2 billion in sales in 1995 to $7 billion in 2003, according to industry figures, would suggest a parallel trend in youth violence. Instead, youth violence has been decreasing.” (Hoerrner 49). A video game is a game played by electronically manipulating images produced by a computer program on a television screen or display. Violence is behavior involving physical force intended to hurt, damage, or kill someone or something. Some video games have violent and mature content in them. People claim that the violence in video games can cause aggression in people. Others claim that the violence in video games has nothing to do with aggression in people. It is also argued that violence in video games has nothing to do with the rage already existing inside of people. Video games do not cause violence because gamers understand that video games are not real, that video games release daily frustration and are inspiring.…

Can violent games make a gamer act irrational? Does it lead to a dangerous situation? How does it affect the behavior of the participant or player? Since the 1950s, Social scientists have been debating and studying the effects of media violence while since the 1980s, they have been more directly studying the effects of video games on behavior of the participant. This topic seems so important today because the games nowadays are more realistic and bloodier than ever. Objective: The aim of this paper is to revisit the controversial issue of the association of violent video games and aggressive behaviour. Conclusions: Several lines of evidence suggest that there is a link between exposure to violent video games and aggressive behaviour. However, methodological shortcomings of research conducted so far make several interpretations of this relationship possible. Thus, aggressive behaviour may be a consequence of playing violent video games, an expression of hostile traits that existed before exposure to these games, and/or it may be a result of several possible combinations of these and other factors. Mental health professionals need to be aware of these potentially negative effects of violent video games when assessing patients who present with aggression.…

The links between increased aggressive and violent behaviour and the content of video games is a controversial subject. Increased scientific evidence demonstrates that violent video games are linked to increases in aggressive cognitions, feelings and behaviours (e.g., Anderson and Bushman, 2001; Anderson, 2004; Anderson, Gentile & Buckley, 2007) However, there is still much resistance to the evidence among the public and by the video game industry (e.g., Entertainment Software Association, 2007). Video game advocates believe video games primarily serve as a way to relax and have a good time, while there are some educational games, the most popular and most frequently played video games are those intended solely for the purpose of entertaining an audience (Anderson & Warburton, 2012). There are both positive and negative sides of the this controversial topic; it can be argued that although there can be some positive effects for children playing video games (e.g., Granic, Lobel & Engels, 2013), they are outweighed by the detrimental issues they can cause, including poor school performance, low levels of empathy, increased aggression and violent behaviour (Anderson & Warburton, 2012).…

Personally, I feel that video games can be the cause of aggressive behavior among people, because exposure to games containing violent images has been proven to impact individuals’ mindsets negatively. I agree with Dr. Michael Rich, in that he explains this influential power in regard to violent video games when he states: “Players might be quicker to throw a punch during a disagreement or even carry a weapon to school, simply because they see so much of that on the screen” (Television and Video Games 1). Dr. Rich’s statement explains that viewing violent actions over time causes a person to become accustomed to seeing violent behavior, which can make it easier for that person to behave in that same way himself. In addition, video games can be addictive, and can be distracting from important parts of everyday life. In other words, teenagers are spending more time playing video games than doing homework, or studying, which is influencing their futures in a negative way. Also, video games can even have a negative impact on health in that they can cause a strong addiction. Next, video games can cause aggressiveness as well as violence. Video games are having a negative impact among people because they can be distracting, can influence health, and can cause violence.…

Past research shows that violent video game exposure increases aggressive thoughts, angry feelings, physiological arousal, aggressive behaviors, and decreases helpful behaviors (Carnagey). Television and video game violence looked at by many parents and companies around the world and also this has been a debate ever since gaming and television started on whether crime is committed from games and television. This topic is controversial because the adults that like video games and television argue that there have been no crimes committed from video games and television. Impacts of Video Game

A video game is an electronic game that involves human interaction with a user interface to generate visual feedback on a video device (Wikipedia, 2011). With many types of games, there are many different effects that affect our life and most of them are bad. The first and also the most dangerous problem is violence. According to Dr. Craig Anderson (2003), violent video games may have even stronger effects on children's aggression for many reasons. He says that video games are highly interactive and engaging. In the other hand, many games reward for violent behaviors and because children repeat these behaviors again and again, they become more violent (Craig Anderson, 2003). Share the same idea with Anderson, Barlett (2009) describes five negative effects of video games and violence is the most dangerous effect. Violent video games is causally related to aggressive thoughts, physiological arousal, aggressive behavior, and antisocial behavior, as a result, children become more violent and they can’t control their action. Besides, there is a strong connection between violent video games and narcissism. Highly narcissistic individuals may act more violent after playing violent video games (Barlett, 2009). It seems like almost attacks are directed to the violent video game but there are some different opinions. One study by University of Rochester (N.Y.) researchers Daphne Bavelier and C. Shawn Green(2010) on the first-person shooter game "Unreal Tournament" found that players improved perceptual and attention skills by playing that game. It gives player some highly mental skills like problem solving, logic, quick thinking, making fast analysis and decisions. They found that playing pro-social games led to more subsequent "helping" behavior in users (Daphne Bavelier, 2010). These researchers’ opinions may right but this problem doesn’t stop there.…
