Many people often sue video games and television because of the “crime” that have been caused because of it. What makes television and video game violence controversial is the people that grew up on these two topics will argue that people that have committed crimes because of this was not because of the video game or television show,it would either be because they have a mental issue or any other reason. Furthermore, games such as Grand Theft Auto and Saints Row influence crime. Depending on the game, the story line could have someone play as a protagonist or a antagonist. Whichever one is the game will most likely have one kill the “enemy “ or try to harm them. Therefore playing these video games storyline pulls one in and makes them feel what the protagonist/antagonist is feeling. Although you enjoy playing something, you can be drawn into it and this can sometimes cause addiction to most people. This is why we have what we call “Video Game Junkies”. “Video Game Junkies” are people who spend their whole day playing video games. The average U.S gamer, mostly in their teens, will spend about six hours a week playing a video game, but an addicted person who plays video games can spend about 12-13+ hours playing. The harm in this addiction is bad for mental and physical health. The mental side can take away from normal social development. From this a person can forget simple things like learn how to talk to others. The physical side can either make you gain weight from staying in one setting for a long amount of time or make you be unhealthy because you would not exercise
