The impact of globalization on the telecommunication industry and in Vodafone
Traditionally, the telecommunication industry was controlled by state-owned, national telecommunication companies usually offer fixed line connections, mobile communication services and internet connections. Nevertheless, the thing has changed. The provision of communication service is now globalizing and technological innovation is breaking down traditional market boundaries as well as structures. Globalization has opened up markets and brought more competition to the telecommunication industry to make it more competitive. Furthermore, the global competition has increased performance standards in many dimensions, for instance, quality, cost, productivity and operational efficiency.
Market conditions are significantly challenging in the mobile telecommunication industry, in particularly in the mature domestic market of the UK and the Euro zone where Vodafone is mainly operating. However, Vodafone managers know that expansion possibilities exist in developing economies should be explored. So, what is Vodafone?
Vodafone Group is a global telecommunications company and its headquarter is currently in Newbury, England. It is the world’s largest mobile telecommunications company measured by revenues. The achievement above is the result of large write-downs on the goodwill of acquired companies and big amortization charge regarding to the Merger and Acquisition business activities of other mobile operations all around the world such as Mannesmann which was basically Germany 's second largest fixed line telephony and internet company but was sold to Vodafone in 2008.
Global economy with globalization helps goods, services, people and ideas move freely across geographic borders. Thanks to globalization, Vodafone has expanded their “brand” to a plenty of regions regardless of any boundaries. The Europe region is the major region of Vodafone’s strategic area which
