My team is up 11-5 in the second round of the playoffs. Our team is very confident because it is the last inning and we were the home team, so if we would have stopped them from tying us our being ahead of us we would win and go to the semifinals. One hit after another they kept scoring runs I kept looking at the scoreboard and I couldn’t believe it. Finally, we got out of the inning.
The score was tied we were under the lights it was like 9:00 at night either win or go home. I was thinking to myself I hope I get up to bat, so I can win this. I was second in the batting order, and the bottom of the order was up. One out, then two outs, and then the top of the order. Our lead off was really good, so I was expecting to be up next,
I took a couple of practice swings, and then he walked on 5 pitches.
As I got up to the plate, I was confident I could get on base. First pitch was a bad pitch and the guy on first stole second. The second pitch was close, but the umpire called it strike. I was so zoned out and focused it was like there was nobody there, just me and the pitcher. The next pitch the pitcher threw it, and it seemed like a split second I swung and hit a line drive into center field.
I sprinted to first and I saw the guy rounding third, and the throw home wasn’t even close. My team ran out lifted me up on their shoulders and everyone was congratulating me. I will always remember that hit it was so special, and I wish I could get another chance to do it all over again.
