One of the ethical problems Walt Disney has encountered is hourly pay for their employees. In spite of Disney’s so called business and ethical standards which clearly state the equal opportunity within their hiring practices, nowhere throughout their companies’ standards does it state an any form for equal paying employer. According to The Walt Disney Company Conflict of Interest policy, every cast member and employee must avoid conflicts of interest or the presence of encounters within the performance of their job. In definition to Walt Disney Company Conflict of Interest occurs when, “…. individual’s private interest or those of his or her immediate family interferes in any way - or even appears to interfere - with the interests of the Company,” (Walt Disney Co.,2009).
The appropriate ways in which the policies and procedures would support the code of ethics would be through the acknowledgement of their employees. Ethics within a business is often guided by law, and in most business shadowed through a structure. It is often a simple notion to treat others well, yet there are multiple ethical problems on which arise. Therefore, Disney should take into consideration the values behind a successful business, the employees’ rights and adjusting the company workplace culture. Therefore, to continue to thrive within their company with tourist and employers hand in hand, Disney must provide a fair ground atmosphere. (Conclusion?)
