English is a difficult subject for those who learn English as a second language, because there are many grammatical rules in English which may leads to confusion. But today it is difficult to live without learning English, as it plays a vital role in everyone’s life and now it is impossible to get a good job without knowing English English is the worldwide language so most of the students learn English as a second language; therefore, it cannot only challenge the mind but also enrich the soul of learners. Furthermore, according to studies, it has been shown that learning a second language results in achieving greater divergent thinking, creativity and cognitive development compared to monolingual children. Most of the students do mistakes while writing in English because of different grammatical rules like tenses, punctuation marks, Pronunciations vocabulary, parts of speech…etc. but it can be solved if the teacher makes it simpler and use an effective teaching strategy by involving all the students in the activities and planning the lessons according to the capacity of the students. This assignment is about the grammatical errors that students do while writing in English. In addition, identifying the linguistic system that learner is having problems with and explaining why learners find these areas difficult. It is focused on the problems while writers using punctuations and a class room task to solve the problems that the writer is having.
Information about the context The text was written by an eleven year old girl. She is studying in grade 5 in Kalaafaanu School. She wrote about “How I spent my last holiday”. The text was taken from a student’s note book. Compare to other students of this age the text contains less mistakes and good knowledge of grammar.
